Normcore 58.5mm Puck Screen, 0.8mm Thickness, Lower Shower Screen, Reusable Metal Filter for 58mm Portafilter Basket, 316 Stainless Steel

I've been using this screen for 4 months and it's still unclogged and working perfectly for me. It's super easy to use and keep clean. Very high quality craftsmanship (as is expected from Normcore) with precision holes that result in excellent pucks - and more importantly lovely espresso. Helps keep my group head nice and clean.

This Normcore screen does a fantastic job of distributing water and keeping the brew head clean. The 58.5mm sizing is precise, and the 0.8mm thickness is ideal for maintaining your standard dose size. Just keep in mind that like all reusable metal mesh filters, it does trap coffee oils over time. You will need to backflush or soak it in espresso cleaner weekly to keep it from clogging. If you don't mind the quick extra maintenance, it is a great addition to your espresso setup.

I’ve only been using it for a day, so I will probably be back at some point to update my review after I’ve had and used it for a few months. Working good at the moment. I recently upgraded to a Pesado high diffusion shower screen for my Breville Barista Express and espresso grounds were constantly getting stuck in the slots and clogging the water flow. After cleaning and reinstalling a few times, which was a hassle, I finally decided I needed to get a puck screen. I picked this one because it seemed to be one that espresso lovers on Reddit recommended, and I am happy with this purchase. Super easy to clean and is keeping my shower screen clean which was the main goal. Seems to be sturdy relative to how thin it is. I like it because I finally got my extractions dialed in and I didn’t have to change anything when I added this puck screen to my current process. My machine is still producing great espresso and is staying clean!

I bought 5 different types of puck screens to test them out, and this one for sure my favorite. I like the design because it’s easy to rinse out unlike the mesh screens, and it doesn’t delaminate like other metal screens that are essentially two pieces glued together. This one is solid, and works very well. It’s worth paying a little more for something that works. It fits perfectly in my Breville Touch Impress.

I use this for every cup of espresso I make; I just rinse and reuse it every time only takes two seconds to rinse off and keeps my machine clean. Very high quality and fits perfectly with my Gemilai Ele portafilter. Would definitely by another one and highly recommend it.

I started my puck screen journey when they first became popular, using a thick wire mesh screen. I liked how it kept my group cleaner, but I hated that it took up so much headspace - I had to reduce my dose by around a gram to accommodate the thickness of the screen. I few months ago I switched to Normcore's 0.8mm screen. I hated it. It didn't distribute water evenly through its honeycomb structure, leaving marks on the top of the puck beneath the holes. And yes, I had the screen right side up, with the side with the holes facing up into the group. The 0.8mm screen was was also hard to remove after brewing. I love this 0.2mm screen. It gives perfectly even water distribution. It is easily removed using suction from your palm. Although very thin, it is also quite rigid, and I expect it to hold up well with wear.

I love these things, they are very thin and durable, function as advertised and fit my 54mm Breville portafilter. They don’t clog up and are easy to use.

Perfect laser-etching. Thin but well made (good strength that it doesn't buckle or bend). No more grinds back-washing into the group head. Extraction on my Breville 870XL is also very consistent now between shots - I was always struggling with some amount of channeling which seems to have gone now. However, I also switch from the built-in grinder to a DF64 Gen II - the grind consistency may have more to do with it than the screen itself. I will post an update with and without the screen to confirm. The logo is also etched in - this might cause some inconsistency in the flow. It is also just that little bit undersized for the Breville porta filter size - some grinds escape from the sides around the edge when I drop it in. So far, it doesn't seem to have any impact on the extraction quality though. Highly recommend, especially for a group head with a center screw like the 870XL.

I changed espresso machines so this is my second one of these. I does it's job very well. I don't like the feeling of the other style of puck screen so this was perfect for me! I have been pulling great espresso shots using this screen and find that it cleans quite well as well. I would say that you do have to be careful while handling it as it can bend quite easily.
