I would have personally liked the memory foam even softer.However, I discovered an issue. After investigating I concluded that this pillow's thickness wasn't designed for soft bed surfaces. If you have a bed with a memory foam surface your body rests lower, which causes your head to be tilted upwards when using this pillow. This negates the main stated benefit of this memory foam pillow which should normally be able to keep your head aligned with your body.So if the bed surface is hard this (flat version) pillow works. If the bed surface is soft it doesn't. In fact my older (not so special) pillow held my head at a much more aligned position.For soft bed surfaces I suspect that the other version of this pillow with the curved profile probably works fine.It would be great if the seller specified this small but massively important detail. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don't like the cover *by M***U on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 17 August 2018* I bought this for my son who has neck problems and he finds it very comfortable. However I have issues with the polyester type cover . The material catches on his beard and has "pilled". It is difficult to remove to wash without the (rather poor )zip catching on the foam and the blue of the gel shows through so that it looks dirty even when newly washed. The pillow is a very tight fit in a regular pillow case spoiling the shape. I wish it came with a couple of spare over pillow cases to preserve the well designed interior. I am thinking of contacting the manufacturers about this. ( I didn't) Later. I have now found that the pillow absorbs the smell from a smolkers breath .Ugh! Can't wash it . currently trying to air it in the garden. I'd recommend washing the cover a couple of times, and leaving the pillow out for a while. I also used bicarb of soda on it, but didn't make much difference. After 2 /3 weeks, the smell had gone - it was used for a few nights, then the cover removed and washed, and the pillow left out for a couple of days. This isn't ideal.The pillow itself is ok-ish. I've tried a few different ones that cost different amounts, and this is ok for the money. I'm unconvinced about the gel layer, especially once you have both the pillow cover, and a pillow case.
