Great value set of 12 Blending and Shading Tools for any Artist!
Wow, super duper fast shipping! I ordered these in the late afternoon on Wednesday and they were delivered by Thursday morning. Enough about that. I wanted this set because I'll be doing some pencil sketching in the next week while recovering from surgery. I love how there's two ends to each tool. One side is a firm, felt like material for blending and the other side is a soft sponge like material for use with shading and creating natural shading. There are two sizes, so six are smaller for getting into very small, precise spaces and doing light touch work and then the larger size for covering larger areas of your work. They feel like a nice weight, not too heavy for when you want to use them for extended periods of time, say on a large piece of artwork. They feel durable and they don't twist around while using them for shading. You have complete control over how you use them. I purchased the set in blue of 12 pieces so I can see having these for a very long time and getting use out of them not with just pencil lead but with other mediums as well, such as water colored pencils and charcoal. These are a very versatile type of artist's tool and can be used with just about any medium you want. They're comfortable in my hand and feel sturdy enough for both soft touch and hard touch. They're also easy to clean with hot water and a dab of soap. I think it's a great value and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any artist, beginner or experienced!

Great blenders, nice to get 12 at a nice price.
These are sturdy, well made blenders. The white tip is much like a compressed paper stub blender, and the dark foam end is a very soft spongy blender that’s great for feathery, ethereal blending. Press too hard with the spongy end while using pastel chalks will basically remove most of the chalk. But a very light touch can give exquisite results. I have not had the same issues as some other reviews with the white ends getting imbedded into the metal handle, and I received all 12 pieces. My set came complete, and it’s all top quality. The only thing that would make this set better would be a nice case to keep them in. Other than that, I think these are perfect for chalk, charcoal, graphite, and maybe creamy-leaded color pencils (like Prisma brand), although I haven’t yet tried them on colored pencils. Recommended!

Good tools, with a caveat.
I really like these. The black tips are a trippy sponge, and soft enough to use on your face. The white tips are stiff, like a regular artist's stump. Altogether they seem sturdy and useful for any kind of charcoal, pastel or pencil work. My only complaint is that one of the smaller brushes has its white tip deeply encased in the metal ferrule and I can't get it out. I've tried everything short of damaging or destroying it, but it won't come out. I've subtracted a star for that reason, being as it's a quality control issue and not something that happened during shipping - that tip is really wedged down deep, not like it was bumped down by a hard knock, and it's only just the one tip, not all of them. Otherwise seems like a very nice set of blending tools, affordably priced. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.

Better than paper stumps
I've just started drawing in the last two months, so I've been trying different methods. For shading, these definitely took 1st place over regular paper stumps. To me, it's a much smoother transition than you get with paper stumps.

Great shading with graphite pencils
I've only been using these for about 2 weeks but so far I love them. I was going through the paper tortillions fairly quickly and wanted something that would last longer. They're working great for shading on the zentangles that I've been drawing lately. I haven't tried washing them yet, and not sure just how long they will last, but so far, so good.

Looked like a gimmick, felt like a gimmick
My expectations were low, and these about matched them. Looked like a gimmick, felt like a gimmick while using. Both sides are harder then i expected, neither really smeared well, just buy a tortillion. For the price I’m not complaining, but a q tip, tortillion, and paint brush keeps these out of my shading rotation, they don’t really do anything well, and don’t cover any niche for me to justify them in my travel kit. May be worth trying for the price, but for me not my cup of tea in use.

Nice! Better than the replaceable versions.
These are pretty nifty. I started with the plastic ones with the replacement sponge ends. Those aren't great. THESE are easy to use. And smoother. The black end is more of a burnisher. Blends somewhat, but burnishes what you've already blended or already laid down. The white side is rougher. It will blend. But don't press too hard because it is rougher and can tear your paper. It's made for light pressure use. Use the white end first, then the black. You can clean the ends as well. Clean the black end with a damp cloth, the white end you can scrub a bit harder or use an eraser on. You don't absolutely need these, but they do give you another way to add personality to your art.
