It is a little difficult to operate for younger child. Probably better for a 5,or 6 year old.

Bought this set for my 6 year old grandson for his birthday and it was a hit! It’s a small plastic set, perfect to play with indoors, but also good for outdoors. The dump truck goes fast and the backhoe goes slowly, can pick up light small things, would work in a sandbox. Can pick up with the backhoe and transfer to the little dump truck.

Things I like: They look terrific. Very highly detailed for such an inexpensive toy. They also come with plenty of batteries and replacement parts for repairs. It's so cute watching them moving around the kitchen floor. My kids are having a blast with them... although they tend to like the speed of the dump truck more, which causes some arguments between them. Things that aren't so great: The dump truck is considerably faster than the excavator. I really wish the dump truck's speed was toned town dramatically. It's almost impossible for them to play together with the excavator moving at a slow crawl, and the dump truck going light speed in comparison. The dump truck also doesn't have a feature to dump it's load with the remote. You can only move it manually with your hands. It seems like a no-brainer to have the dump truck dump it's load with a push of the button on the remote. Speaking of the remote, the dump truck also has a feature where if you hit the left button, it will drive automatically in a pre-set routine. When this is used, it will start ramming itself into whatever obstacles you have near it. The other button activates various noises, which is fun, but the second button on the excavator doesn't do the same. Instead, it moves the arm and bucket the same as the left button. Why not have both machines make noises with the right button? Overall, it's good enough for children's play, and the price is hard to pass up.

My two grandsons ages 6 and 4 really enjoyed these RC Excavator and Dump Truck set. The description states that this a collaborative toy with two controllers, one for each construction vehicle and that is an EXCELLENT thing. RC toys are tough when two boys are so close in age, as everyone wants to play at the same time. This RC set up allows both to play at the same time and more importantly, with each other. They found the excavator to be the better of the two toys because the dump truck does not have an electronic up and down dump bed. These are very accurate truck toys and the kids are exceptionally pleased with the construction signs and people inside the vehicles. The drivers, construction signage and even rocks and ruble at this scale fit well with the scale of some of their other toys. Upon helping the boys open up and setting up the toys I thought that the size of the Excavator and Dump Truck set were a bit small, but at this price, how does one to expect to get two RC controllers, an Excavator and Dump Truck set along with construction signs and drivers inside the vehicles unless that are offered at this size and scale. These are kid toys and my grandkids are young, and after a week of hard play, all is well and not yet broken. When and if breakage does occur as toys do break, I can’t say that I will be disappointed. I will say that after a week I am impressed with the durability so far for these toys for children this age. The kids think its fun to run into Mom’s feet and Mom says that these toys do hurt and can easily be stepped on. Four Stars for price/performance. Expect these construction vehicles to be small and compact.
