Best Caramelised Onion Gravy Granules

Many of these Bisto brand gravy bases are vegetarian-friendly, and that's why I order them. They are delicious! Gotta figure they would be, right? Because Bisto is a British product, and the Brits eat a lot of gravy! Now, when making up a batch of these gravies, as with most cooking from convenience products, I always doctor it up a little. For one thing, I use a little bigger measure of the granules than called for in the instructions, and before stirring up the mix I just quickly dip my small whisk lightly into a jar of vegetarian stock base--the one I use is called Better Than Bouillon and it has hydrolyzed soy protein, yeast extract and maltodextrin, among other things. This makes my gravy dark brown and gives it a little extra richness. So your mileage may vary, as you may or may not do doctor-up cooking as I do. But try this brand--I think if you like delicious gravy and convenience, you'll like Bisto.

I really enjoy all the Bisto gravies. It's very convenient to make gravy for one. We are starting to get Bisto in some US supermarkets but only the "Favourite" flavor. I like that this is in a jar instead of the standard cardboard tube and this flavor is probably my favorite. This particular product was shipped from the UK which can take anywhere from a week to a month. Well worth the wait.

Tastes great but pay attention to directions. Do not dump a lot of hot water in the bowl. It will congeal into a big lump. Add like an ounce of water, stir, then another, stir, then another stir and slowly add rest stirring. TASTE is great, surprisingly tasty. I've used over rice and noddles.

False advertising ! Not gluten free! False ! Got me sick as a dog as a celiac I found this disturbing and it made me physically ill!

Nice basic onion flavored mix for gravies and sauces. In use it in many dishes. This is almost impossible to find in US. So I was so glad to find it on Amazon.
