Stir Crazy Hot Oil Popcorn Popper, Popcorn Maker Machine with Large Serving Bowl Lid and Stirring Rod, 6 Qt, Black

Well made popcorn machine. Easy to use. Plug it in, add oil then popcorn! I like the stirring mechanism and it’s quiet as it is running. I find that it does a great job of popping almost all the kernels and you can control how much you want to make. It’s also nice that the cover is your bowl. Easy to clean and store.

This is the 3rd Stir Crazy we have owned. Hopefully, it will perform like the first one, which lasted 15 years. The second one we bought lasted 18 months. So far, so good

This popcorn maker is perfect in every way. It has been updated so that the bowl fits right underneath the unit and is way more compact than it used to be but produces the same amount of popcorn. This one seems better made so that it won't crack like the old ones used to. And it only has the two pieces the lid and the base which make it a lot safer so that you don't burn yourself turning it over. This makes the freshest popcorn ever, and is comparable to popping it in a pan, but you don't have to shake this popcorn maker. I haven't had any burnt popcorn in this new design either. And it pops extra quick! It's very easy to use and very easy to clean you just wipe it out with a paper towel when you're done.

This review concerns the China made "West Bend Stir Crazy Hot Oil Popcorn Popper, Popcorn Maker Machine with Large Serving Bowl Lid and Stirring Rod, 6 Qt, Red", which is the "updated" model of the Stir Crazy popper (Amazon ASIN: B0CQ8V3R57). This popcorn popper does not work as advertised. It does not get hot enough to thoroughly pop popcorn. It never yielded more than 50 percent of the popped corn that our hot air popper yields (using the same amount of popcorn). I tried fresh, regular and premium popcorn and various amounts of canola oil. The popcorn was always chewing with most kernels under-popped. Besides the poor popping results, it is cheaply made particularly the lid and power cord, which would likely break with even careful, moderate use. Returned.

Pops corn faster than any other popper I have ever used. I followed directions for amount of oil to use and it was too much; popped corn was kind of swimming in oil. I will try half of recommended oil next time. Putting butter in the lid didn't work very well even using soft butter. It was mostly a melty blob left in the lid at the end of the popping cycle. The plastic pieces feel kind of flimsy. Wish components could be put in the dishwasher. Final assessment is that with some adjustments on my part, like melting butter separately and pouring on after popping corn will work better, and taking care to not damage plastic pieces, that this popper will last a reasonable amount of time.

West Bend is BACK! I have used West Bend for over 20 years now. The old design was filled with flaws. After a few uses, it would not heat up enough to pop all of the kernels. Bought another one and the new one did the same thing. I saw this redesigned unit and told myself I would give them one last chance before I went to a different brand. This unit pops fast! I like the better design for tucking away the power cord. Also it handles popping the kernels evenly. The only thing I have negative to say is that some of the unpopped kernels will get stuck on the outermost lip of the inside of the unit. Easy to clean and the lid is dishwasher safe! Very happy with my purchase!

Pops. Maybe kernels or maybe machine but by the time the last kernels have popped the first ones have burned. I used oil per the instructions and got much better results, I used olive oil and the oil didn’t burn. The only problem I had with the last pop was I over filled it with kernels and had to stop it and flip the bowls while it was still popping. It was entertaining for me and my son. Same feel of childhood though watch my Grandfather popping corn to sit down with us and watch a movie or listen to the radio.

We have owned this popcorn maker for a little over 1.5 years. We use it frequently. It is still hot, fast and the coating is in good shape. We had many a maker, this is by far the best.
