Mike’s New Home Theater Chair
Purchased May 1, 2025 Pros • It looks good • It’s very comfortable in the chair position • Quality is very good Cons • Not mobile • Too low to the floor • The arms are too tall • Only the chair position is comfortable. Any other position means spreading the cushions out, making the seat too thin. The metal bars can easily be felt and causes me some discomfort on my delicate bottom. Making the chair mobile To make the chair more mobile, I was going to need to build what I’m calling, a dolly. To do this, I cut some eight foot 2x4s down to four 25” and four 32” pieces. These pieces were arranged into two 32” squares that I layed on top of each other then screwed together. I then spray painted this two level square with Minwax Red Oak. Underneath it, I screwed in four 3” casters. On the top, at each corner I screwed in four Mason jar lids for the chair feet to sit in. All I needed to do then was drop the chair unto the dolly, making sure that the feet sat in the Mason jar lids. Now I can easily move the chair around without the chair sliding off the dolly. The whole thing now sits about six inches higher off the floor, making it much more usable for my situation. A small disadvantage is that with the chair sitting on the dolly such as it is, can no longer recline. This is fine with me since I found that any position other than the chair position was uncomfortable. But if for some reason I did want to recline it, I simply had to pick the chair up out of the dolly and set it on the floor. None of the changes I made (so far) are permanent. For now, I’ve been using an old office chair with the back removed as a footrest. It works, but it’s not ideal. Replacing the arms The new arms are about the same dimensions as the old arms, 2-1/2” wide x 32” deep x 20” high with the new arms now 4” shorter or 16” high. From underneath the top part of the arms, a 36” piece of 1x6 pine was screwed in as an armrest to sit on top of each arm. A hole was drilled in at the end of each arm to accommodate the keyboard tray I made from some scrap wood and is held in place using a carriage bolt. The new chair arm’s side panels are Wainscoting MDF with some quarter round molding added around the perimeter of the Wainscoting. Once the new arms were assembled, they were stained with 5 or 6 coats of Minwax Bombay Mahogany. Once the stain dried, I screwed them to the chair the same way as the original arms were screwed in. Re-reclining the Chair I began this phase of the project by cutting a scrap piece of 3/4” birch veneered plywood down to 22-1/2” x 14”. This piece was going to be sandwiched between what I’m calling the recliner extension and the upholstered end plate. Around the perimeter edges of the plywood I ironed on some red oak veneer tape to hide the “plys” in the plywood. Four holes were drilled into the plywood for the screws to pass through to re-mount the upholstered end plate to the recliner extension with the plywood piece sandwiched in between the two. A 22-1/2” x 1-3/4” x 1-3/4” board was screwed to the bottom back side of the plywood. Two holes were drilled into the bottom of the board to allow adding castors to the board making pulling the recliner extension out a little easier. The whole thing was then stained with Bombay Mahogany. The original 2” 1/4-28 screws for mounting the upholstered end plate to the recliner extension had to be replaced with 2-1/2” 1/4-28 screws to accommodate the plywood inserted between the two. I kept the original arms and other pieces no longer used and put them all up in my attic in case I needed them again someday. Finally, I bought some extra cushions that somewhat matched the original cushions now making this the most comfortable and usable Home Theater Chair I ever had.

Not safe around pets or old people
Went together easily, looked beautiful. No one has been able to sleep in it (we are too old to get down that low, and back up again.) And our cats loved it for claw practice, and it showed after only 3 days. I had to buy a cover to hide the damage.

Great Chair, Amazing Bed!
I'm currently staying with a friend at her house which has been a godsend as temperatures outside where beginning to get much warmer. For context, I was previously living out of my van. She had mentioned that she wished though she had a bed for me to sleep in but I was just happy to be under a roof again. Well she brings up the idea of these convertible chairs that turn into a bed. Never having thought of it myself I promptly went looking here on Amazon and found this wonderful chair I was needing a few requirements to met which was a small chair that could extend to a long enough bed to accommodate me being 6'2", which literally is a tall order! Secondly I'm a big guy currently who is trying to lose weight but I'm around 450ish lbs right now. So it had to be strong enough to withstand my weight while sleeping. This one advertises that it's extra long to accommodate taller sleepers and and can withstand weight up to 500lbs. And so many others were much shorter in length and could only withstand up to 400lbs. Once arrived it came in a small but definitely heavy box. Assembly was pretty easy with easy to read instructions with well articulated illustrations. It took maybe 30 mins to complete by myself. I was only missing one felt pad that goes on the bottom of the legs. The instructions state there should be 4 of them to put on but the manufacturer has them already on the legs for you. So I messaged the seller to let them know I was just missing that one felt pad and they are currently sending me a replacement. The chair after it is completely built looks very high quality and has a nice color and fabric. The pillow and cushions are vacuum sealed to make them easier to package for shipping. So once they are taken out they will of course quickly begin to take shape. It was recommended to let them air out for a few hours to allow the foam to fully back to its normal state. Pulling the bottom out set up the bed has been quite easy to do. Just pull it out until it stops. There is a nice little basket which you can access above by raising the hinged metal slats above it. The images show a blanket being stowed there but really it's a bit small that I can only see maybe a small thin blanket fitting. I simply use it though to store some of my personal items. Once pulled out you simply arrange the pads over the slats and the back is adjustable as well. It clicks each time you raise it up so you can adjust the angle but once it reaches the last position it unlocks and allows the back to lay flat along the rest of the bed. Place the back pillow down and you have a lovely pillow for your head and plenty of leg room once laid down. The padding seems thin but honestly it was firm enough that I didn't feel the metal slats underneath. When done simply pull up the back til it locks into the angle you want then arrange the pads back to where they go. Place the pillow towards the back and push the frame back under the chair. I have slept great with this chair slash bed and after a week now of use there is no signs that my weight is giving it any issues. Now with all that said you me wondering how come them I don't give it 5 stars? Well because of one simple issue and no it's not the missing part cause honestly it wasn't that big of a deal but the manufacturer is correcting it so that is 5 stars to them on customer service. The issue simply is while I sit in the chair and resting against the back my butt wants to shift forward. Since the bottle is made to slide out, I find myself slowly sliding out with the bottom of the chair and have to pull myself back up sliding the bottom back with me. It really could use some kind of simple locking mechanism for when it's in the chair and be able to unlock it easily to pull out the frame. I'll eventually probably have to rig something up to keep it from moving when I'm sitting in it as a chair and honestly it could just be my heavier size exaborating the issue. Possibly someone with a lighter build wouldn't be able to easily move it out from under while sitting. But other than that for me it gets a solid 4 stars, well really more like 4.5 but alas I can't show that in the rating. It's a solid chair though and a great hideaway bed. I can see it being perfect for someone to have for guest sleeping over or even to use as a main bed in a small apartment that can save space when not in use to sleep. Overall I highly recommend this chair convertible bed and the price really is worth the value.

Perfect sleeper chair for small spaces
Really happy with this purchase. The chair feels solid and well-built, and it easily converts from a chair to a lounger and full sleeper. The 84" length is a big plus, I can stretch out comfortably without feeling cramped. Cushion is firm but supportive, not cheap or saggy. I keep it in my home office and it’s perfect for extra comfort and quick naps during the day. Great for guests, naps, or just relaxing, and it doesn’t take up much space. Overall, very practical, comfortable, and well worth the price. Would buy again.

Adorable!! Looks expensive perfect in my Miami apartment
I LOVE this sleeper chair!!! It totally made the room feel complete and much cozier. It will be perfect when I have guests over for my small apartment. It is on the firm side but it will work for a short term stay if needed and I love sitting in it. Add a cozy pillow and blanket and it shouldn’t be too bad. You could always add a topper to it for sleeping as well which I do have in my storage. Or maybe some extra blankets on the bottom. Oh it also has a little basket underneath which I love to store my neck pillow. It was easy for this single girl to put together by herself. It took me a little over an hour which wasn’t bad at all. It was actually really simple. And I love building furniture anyway. Ok hopefully this helps someone else decide. Folds away easy too. Perfect perfect little chair for my Miami apartment! She brought the place together. 5 stars for me :)

2️⃣ My living room looks nicer and cozier with this sofa🥰
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm thrilled with this sofa bed. What convinced me most is that it's 84 inches long, so I can finally stretch out completely without bending my legs 🙌. It's super comfortable, the foam has the perfect balance of soft and firm, and the fabric feels durable and cool. Plus, it supports up to 500 pounds, so it feels strong and secure. I love that it's a 4-in-1: sofa, recliner, lounge chair, and bed. Perfect for guests or small spaces. And the best part… it was easy to assemble. I definitely recommend it 💯
