Nice scale with base-10 divisions (tenths, 20ths, 30ths, etc.) Works a little better with our base-10 numbering system doesn't it? Fractions ain't my thing. I had a plastic one but it broke scratching my back. Hey, these things do more than just measure. So I needed a stronger one. It looks pretty cool and is different than what you might find on your friend's desk. The markings appear black over the silver-grey aluminum. They look like they are painted on. Not sure how long they will last but I have to assume Staedtler knows what they are doing. Believe it or not, it can still get scratched and marked up. Aluminum can be a bit soft. But it appears definitely stronger than my old plastic one. I use it basically as a ruler at work, using the 1/10 inch scale. I can interpolate between the marks and I think get reasonably close to a nice decimal number, unlike trying to figure out what fraction I have and then convert it to base 10.

I like it! My daughter saw it on the web site and reluctlantly I thought I'd give it a try. Pros: I like it's heft. When you pick it up it feels like a quality tool. The numbers and gradations are very sharp and clear It looks just like the one's we're used to, it just feels like better quality. Probably the edges will not get broken Cons: haven't found any. Summary: Works great, and I just like the feel of the thing.

We started buying these extremely durable scales for our field supervisors and formen. With the old plastic scale they would break them by sitting on them. With these they don't break and they have some weight for holding down some papers. We have saved money, time and accuracy using these great tools.

I'm an engineer and got sick of using the cheap plastic scales or the mini pocket sized bar. This thing is heavy duty and rocks. My only complaint is the scale is much noisier, but that is to be expected when using a solid piece of aluminum.

Great ruler, thicker and heavier than knock offs. Worth the couple dollars extra for quality from a name you can trust.

It would be easy to call it my fault for careless handling something. But there are things about the design of this that make it much more prone to being dropped. I haven't owned another Triangular Scale in the past, but I've used plastic here and there ones over the years. I never had this problem with them. I also don't drop other things often. But this thing just slips out of my fingers really easily and has fallen onto other objects damaging them, or dinging its own corners or edges. It's a nice feeling scale. It's smooth and has a good heavy weight to it for the size. The markings are great. The colors in the centers are handy. Overall I'm very happy with it. But due to the slick surface finish, and heavy weight, I've damaged it after just a couple hours of use. To be fair, I wasn't using it over a table, rather against vertical surfaces. It was excellent for the purpose as I could hold it firmly flat against the surface while marking, which is very hard to do with a more flexible ruler or tape. If the product could be changed slightly to increase surface friction except along the drawing edges, I think it would be a big improvement for the ease of use and longevity of the product.

I use this all the time for Engineering and this has been the best Engineering scale I have bought over the last few years. This has good weight, easy to read numbers, and seems to be very durable.

This is a very durable and solid item. I enjoy using this everyday and would recommend it to anyone. Only con to this is the cost.
