Great Converter
I've been buying these $7 converters for RCA to HDMI. I have them all over the place and they work with minimal issues. They don't come with a switch for the aspect ratio, but they do usually come with a switch for 720/1080p. I had to buy an S-VIDEO converter recently and found the cheapest was around $15. It had the ratio switch and a switch from 480 to 720p, but the image wasn't the sharpest and it didn't work with my Commodore 64 (even though I had the 300 ohm resistor... for those in the know). I thought I was having trouble with the machine until I plugged it into a TV and found it worked just fine. I set out to find a new converter and found this one. I'm very happy with this box. Like another reviewer said, it's about as close as you're going to get to a RetroTink without shelling out the big bucks. The image is great, the ratio, quality, and source switching work perfectly and there is an on-screen display showing you what you just set it to. After going through those cheap converters I was also really pleased to find a custom power adapter and not a USB plug (they don't usually give you an adapter and you have to make sure the one you grab can support the power requirements of the converter - a hassle). If you aren't worried about S-Video, you aren't using your converter on a large TV, and you don't need to change the aspect ratio, I would say one of those cheap-o converters will do the trick for you. If you don't need S-Video, are on a small screen, but need ratio switching, there are other boxes slightly higher in cost than those that will work. If you need S-Video, this is hands-down better than any of those that are using USB power (I'm not saying the fact that they are using USB power has anything to do with the quality, but I've seen the options on Amazon and this is the easiest way to draw a line in the sand). You could probably get away with one of the cheaper options if, again, you're on a smaller screen and don't need ratio switching. Now, if you want to see your vintage device on a large screen, no matter what, this is one of the best of the sub-$40 options on the market and there is a marked difference in quality over the sub-$25 options. If you have a vintage computer, I'd say just skip the testing and get this one from the start. I wish I had.

RCA/S-Video to HDMI converter with 4:3/16:9 selector and 720P/1080P output
This RCA/S-Video to HDMI converter works very well to connect old equipment to modern televisions. The image is clear and stable, and the 4:3 / 16:9 aspect ratio and 720P/1080P resolution switches are very useful. Ideal for playing VHS, DVD and classic consoles without complications. Easy to install and use. Highly recommended.

Great results
I needed an Analog-to-HDMI signal converter in order to be able to connect my old VCR to a modern receiver via HDMI cable. There are cheaper options available, but customers complain about various image and build quality issues. Upon careful research, I have decided upon this product due to its robust feature set, build quality, good reviews, and built-in settings memory preserving user settings when power is turned off. I am very pleased with the result. This converter is perfect for my application, and it provides a good image quality on a 77" TV set.

Good Product but, make sure to Supply or Purchase a separate HDMI, RCA Audio, and/or S-Video Cable
Before I explain my issue, I've really enjoyed this product, works like charm even if you have to press a few buttons to get the picture to show up. It works as it should, but you'll have to get through a few issues. If you plan to use this adapter, be forewarned that the cables that come with it aren't exactly that good. The adapter itself defaults to RCA 4:3 and 1080p, and it works really well but the cables that come with it have issues, the S-video cable from what im aware aren't shielded and the HDMI is very sensitive and the RCA cables might show up a bit bright from what I've tested. The S-video has this visual noise issue that even shows up on my capture card, but when I plugged in a Playstation S-video cable the noise wasn't there. Heck the HDMI I supplied was from my Playstation 5, and it didn't have the problems the HDMI cable the adapter came with. In Short the Adapter and Power Supply so far, really good, but you're gonna has to spend more on extra cables if you plug this into a switch box, or if you have an adapter for say a Playstation 1 or 2 (or 3)

Did not come with a power adapter
Pros: - Promises to resurrect analog ghosts like a junkie preacher with a shiny HDMI cross. - 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio switch—because you might as well choose how you die. - Claims 720p and 1080p output, perfect for dressing up your old garbage in high-def lies. Cons: - No power adapter. No power. No life. Just another cold corpse in the endless landfill of consumer despair. - Feels like it was built for people who like solving puzzles missing half the pieces. - Holds your nostalgia hostage, demands you bring your own ransom.

More expensive, but worth it!
I'm going to make this shorter than I should. Bought several AV/S-video to HDMI converters over the years for 1/2 the price or less and have always been disappointed. Basically, all I ever wanted was a device that kept my Laserdisc player vs newer TV's happy. This is it! It doesn't distort or add additional noise, maintains the proper aspect, and retains setting upon power loss (I cut power when not needed as to not put extra wear on my aging LD player). This would probably work for other legacy AV devices, but I would not recommend for Retro game consoles if you are a serious gamer as it most certainly introduces input lag (there are devices on the market that while being even more expensive are far more suited). But straight up video players where lag is of no concern definitely buy this.
