Nokia Lumia 625 SIM-Free Smartphone - Black

Only had this for three days but already straight out of the box it's outdoing my other two phones! I owned and i phone 5 which was to small, to slippery and to...apple. The os on that was hard to read and the whole I tunes gubbins was a pain. Same with the sony phone, it was sluggish and small, with nasty picture, not to mention sound was poor. This phone is for people who don't want to wast time faffing around, one thing the phone encouraged me to was get organised- and add all my contacts to my primary hot-mail account, which then auto syncs to the phone, this works both ways. It's great- emails, numbers, addresses all there and updated constantly. Picture quality 8/10 A lot reviews have knocked the phone on its picture quality, don't be put off by this, as the picture is actually excellent for the price. And to be honest, I'd rather have the larger screen size any day. Believe me, I've owned various smart phones, I'm also a digital artist so a good screen is important to me. The screen is more than adequate, if you don't believe me just pop in to any phone shop and ask them to get one out, have a play. Speed 9/10 Works a treat, not quite as fast the latest iPhones, but believe me operates quickly and smoothly. Ease of use 10/10 Its like my pc at home, I just literally drag and drop anything I need. I haven't even touched half the features yet. The fact that I can just drag and drop media, that's an instant 10 in this world over complicated proprietary applications. Operating System? 8/10 Yes, its windows 8, I know, its windows 8- but guess what, I don't want windows 7 on a phone! It works just fine, is responsive , crisp, clear and organised. And it syncs beautifully with my pc. Sound 10/10 I'm not kidding you- if you like listening to music or media, this is the phone for you. The sound is great, and goes very loud, way louder than the Sony or apple. Which is ironic considering Sony push there's as walkmans. Its not so loud without the earphones in, but pop them in are your rocking, or rapping or whatever is you do. Memory 6/10 Not a massive amount of memory, but..totally expendable with micro SD cards now, problem solved. Quality 9/10 Its got an anti scratch screen which seems to actually work. The phone feels much more resilient than theI phone. Battery 9/10 its totally outdoing my I phone had this on for three days, been using it quite a bit, battery is just below half full, amazing for the size. Conns! The screen gets greasy very easily with lots of use, make sure you have clean hands and have a lens cloth handy. With apps like ebay, you get the notifications- but yes, that then disappears - so you if you miss it, you wont know unless you check the app itself. Misses the point of the notification! This is a big one if you want to use the phone for rambling, just found out the phone does not contain a magnetometer - this means you cannot use any compass based apps, as the phone doesn't know which way it's pointing. On here maps and Google maps, the arrow is always pointing the wrong the way, which can get confusing. It's a real shame that wasn't in this version.

Good phone, nice reactivity (even if not the best for sure), battery lasts for two days if you're not using any games or stuff like that and have wifi always turned on. Only disadvantage : the apps for Windows Phone 8 are, for sure, not as numerous as on Android or iOS.

This is a great phone, yet when I took it to my fiancé in Spain the sim wouldn't work. I read that this item was unlocked and now this item is sold out. When I went back on the review it does not say anywhere that its lock to ee like the seller has told me when I emailed my promblem, I have come back to the UK and asked around to get it unlocked and the cheapest is £30.00 and another 3-5 days without a working phone

After my HTC Evo died I've been looking for a new phone. I've experimented with Blackberry and that won't be happening again! I'm a .Net developer so I thought I'd try a window phone. I went for the 625 as it's got quite reasonable stats for the price 8GB HD (Expandable to 32GB with Micro SD, 512MB RAM (which I was a bit concerned about), etc...). This was my first Windows phone as I have been using Android for the past 6 years (with a 2 month break on Blackberry that won't be spoken of again). Anyway I was pleasently surprised. There were one or two apps missing that I had come to rely on but I found the Microsoft equivelent just as good. Emails integrated seamlessly, Nokia's map program HERE Maps is really good and allows you to cache whole country maps for when you don't have an internet connection. Skype works really well. It only has 512MB RAM which I thought would slow it down but it doesn't seem to. I don't think I'll be going back to android. A note for developers, you'll need visual studio 2013 or above (of which you can get the express version free from Microsoft) and the express IDE only works on Windows 8 NOT 7.

This model of Nokia phone has virtually been discontinued by all the big retailers in favour of the 630 but unfortunately the 630 does not have an LED flash included therefore this makes the 625 a better buy in my opinion. A good friend has had one for about 6 months so I knew what to expect in fact we were so impressed my partner and I bought one each. For the price you will find it hard to find to find a phone with better functionality and of cause with Nokia construction quality and windows 8.1 software I think this phone makes a great choice. Still learning my way around, but so far so good everything I expected so am very pleased.... If you think you want one of these then hurry up they are become very difficult to find!

Another Lumia review like many others I'm afraid. I needed to update from an old Galaxy Ace and wanted to try a Windows phone. I'd seen a 520 in action and it looked good to me, so even though I had read some of the not so positive reviews on Amazon and elsewhere I decided to give it a go. First impressions were good. I liked the size of the screen, loved the tiles, easy to move contacts and downloaded some updates no problem. A few hours later I picked up the phone only to find that the clock had re-set to 04.00 am! Hoping it was just a one off I re-set the phone and carried on, but it happened again and again. So after 2 or 3 days I returned the phone. Looking online there were plenty of comments regarding this problem. It's very frustrating because in the short time I had the phone there were many things I liked about it. I will probably try a different model in the hope that I will find one without a problem. How many of these have been returned, I wonder?

The phone is a good phone but it doesn't have as many real world apps that you can actually use. MS really need to sort this one out as until that happens this good phone will never be great. Good battery life. No glitches experienced. Links with PC fine.

When I set out to buy a new phone, I was looking for a smartphone that rivalled the iPhone that would allow me enjoy similar benefits at a fraction of the price. Fellow Amazon customers, this bundle was exactly what I found in the sim free Nokia Lumia 625. The phone has an array feature that do not disappoint. Texting on this phone is quick, simple and effective and, due to the large screen size, the keyboard is large and substantial with adequate space between each key. Making calls is equally easy and enjoyable. What's more is that the phone's menu screen, which appears when the phone is switched on, is fully customisable. This means that you can place your favourite apps and programs right in front of you for quick and easy access, which saves you having to scroll through lists of options to get to your chosen item. Internet use is also a breeze, due in large part to the size of the screen and the ease of use in terms of the keyboard. While I haven't made much use of the camera as yet, shots I have managed to take with it have been very effective, with it giving different filtering options and effects for photos. Although this phone has a lot going for it, I would say that there are two main downfalls that really could apply to any phone: First is battery life. When being used frequently for internet access, the phone tends to need a charge either every night or once every two days, depending on the levels of usage. Secondly, screen brightness. I wouldn't go so far as to say the screen is dull; it performs fine. But it does fall a little short when compared, for instance, to significantly more top-of-the-range smartphones such as the iPhone or the Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6. That being said, what you lose in screen brightness and battery life, you seem to gain in price. If you're looking for a mid-to-entry-level phone that's well equipped to meet and exceed the demands of the average mobile user, then this could be the phone for you. I would recommend it without reservation to anyone.
