Great starter bee hive. Comes preassembled, everything but the bees.even as a new comer to bee keeping , if you have a package of bees, you should be able to have this up and running within an hour. Watch as many YouTube videos to familiarize yourself on installing a package of bees ( I like Italian bees, had really good luck with them)only thing I didn’t like is no bottom board for winter( just a screen bottom). Otherwise it’s very nice. I plan to add another super by end of summer(bees like room), and these guys do sell one on amazon with the frames preloaded with wax sheets.get something to keep it off the ground,summerhawk sells a stand, but you can use cinder blocks, old tire rim, build your own stand, I used an old shower chair stand, it was free and all four legs are adjustable. Need any help or tips , just ask.

I really want to love this product, but three things could be improved 1. Don’t ship the product with cheap polystyrene as it’s flakes into beads when unpacking leaving the area full of those nasty white balls 2. 3 of the jars arrived broken because of same packaging 3. This are no assembly instructions for a novice and an exploded diagram of where each part goes and it’s function would have been very helpful instead of a pointer to a YouTube video about general bee keeping. - Queen separator, bee flow control, exploded view etc we worked out but would have been nice for that to have been in the instructions with what their functions are as this is a our first time putting a hive in.

So far so good; It’s been about two weeks now. I actually order two of these and they both can with broken jars.

I bought two of these thru Costco earlier this spring and thought the design was very cute. I am a first time bee keeper and very excited to begin my journey. The bee boxes and frames are well made, all my jars were individually wrap. Problems came with the roof...firsts roof ridge was only attached with one screw all the others were snapped off because they were over tighten so it was unusable from the start. The second roof started coming apart soon after the second rain. Water is the death of bees. Emailed SummerHawk Ranch, twice , and have not heard word one from them. I have purchased a new roof through another bee supplier. If you want to start bee keeping you will be money ahead going thru a business that will stand buy their product and bees are their only business...yes, they sell thru Amazon or look up a few on line but SummerHawk customer service sucks and their product is iffy. I was so disappointed as start up isn’t cheap.

My boyfriend saw this at a customer's house and told me about it so I got it for him for Christmas. It is such a great concept and the housing unit really is a good quality and should last a long time. We can't wait to get our colony in it.

Came without ANY assembly instructions. Even though it says it comes fully assembled. It does not. Had to google it online.

Just received it today...looks awesome...only negative is it came with two broken jars.

If you are serious about bee keeping - with your first priority honey bees - stay away from gadgets such as these.
