The best COD I have ever played
***UPDATED REVIEW*** Well would you look at the 1 star reviews. Half of them are from morons whose game didn't turn up so they blame the game and review it 1 star. The other half are illiterate amoeba brains who can't even explain why they don't like the game. The score is lowered unfairly. This game and the series it is part of has sadly for some time been subject to some extremely unfair criticism backed up by... nothing really. People just randomly throw about statements such as 'this game will suck' 'this game looks so bad'. Well it isn't true, and those who say such stuff before the game even comes out... really? Anyway, admittedly my expectations were slightly lower due to what Ghosts presented with itself. Having seen gameplay trailers beforehand I did expect this game to be pretty decent though. But it is a lot better than just 'pretty decent'. I have played 6 hours of multiplayer so far (taking advantage of the 2x exp). It is awesome. For starters, usually on the first day of playing the previous versions have experienced connection issues. Not a problem here. Not even once. Not even a lag or a freeze, nothing, just smooth, brilliant gameplay. In the previous versions in every match I played I was plagued with constant 'seeking new host' messages, pausing the game unnecessarily. Again, in 6 hours, nothing here. Perhaps it's just luck, perhaps it's an improvement. Having further played multiplayer (I literally spent the whole day on it) I still have not had any connection issues. Gameplay-wise, Sledgehammer Games have outdone themselves. The new movement mechanics (again, plenty of 10 year old critics before the game even came out, suggesting it copies Titanfall - nevermind the fact this game was in development for 3 years - and makes the gameplay impossible) are amazing. They are a very refreshing change and being able to jump up 1, 2 or 3 levels just gives you so much more space to fight in. And no, I definitely would not say that it gives anyone unfair advantage. I am yet to see anything overpowered, anyone taking advantage of something, anyone with stats such as 30-0, just not happened so far, the gameplay is VERY balanced. The exo abilities are pretty cool, admittedly the cloaking seems a tad useless - if you have at least average eyesight you can still see anyone who is using it, apart from at longer distances. But as a new addition they are great. You can take a point in domination, then use some extra speed and rush to the next one to get there before the opponents. There are so many varied ways you can get frags and help your team. There is something really satisfying in boost slamming down an opponent who is taking a point in domination, then meleeing the one next to him whilst he is confused to death to defend the point. Just awesome. Challenges - there are lots of challenges which let you get exp and level up quicker, something Ghosts really lacked in. They are also rewarding in that you get new calling cards for them. The graphics are great - you can see all the details, you can actually see enemies more clearly. 10/10 on this front - no complaints at all. The weapons look really cool by the way. You can also customise the look of your soldier with some more details than previously, which is great. Calling cards and emblems are back - good news all round :-) The music, and sound in general, again is awesome. Very climatic. Overall playing online the action is fairly quick, but easy to get into, so much happening at the same time and so many cool ways to kill people. I really cannot complain about this game so far, 6 hours in it is great, and now I shall go and enjoy it for the rest of the day... it's just that fun. Still enjoying the game, looks like one I will enjoy for a longer time. I will add more comments regarding new additions such as the uplink and momentum game modes, lasers, the campaign and more. In my most honest opinion, anyone interested in online FPS games should buy this and check it out. I have played every COD apart from World at War, and whilst I enjoyed them all apart from Ghosts (and MW3 wasn't ideal either), this one is by far the best.

Thoroughly enjoyable
I'm coming to this as pretty much a first-time player of Call of Duty (or at least first time playing for any substantial length of time). So I can't compare it to previous editions. What I can say is that the game is well designed, and extremely fun to play with just some setbacks. The campaign isn't particularly long. I didn't time myself, but without putting too much time into it I had completed the game within a couple of days. The much publicised campaign does feel a bit like a good B movie rather than the blockbuster that was promised. Some of the acting is a bit iffy, the story is pretty predictable, and some of the writing isn't up to scratch. Sometimes it could do with a bit more interaction, sometimes the interaction goes too far (I need not remind you of the now infamous "hold square to pay respects" scene). But, let me be clear, it plays out like a GOOD B movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it in spite of the foibles. The missions are linear, but you do have lots of options to tackle scenarios. Your AI teammates actually do a good job, and you do feel like you are working with them rather than in spite of them. The controls feel natural, and it's easy to pick up the controller and play (although there is enough of a challenge to keep you going). It is an engaging campaign and I look forward to replaying it soon. Multiplayer in CoD is, of course, legendary. And it is certainly addictive here. I find that there is a good variety of gameplay options, decent range of weapons (although I think this could be much better), and the multiplayer plays well on my relatively modest internet connection. The exoskeletons make multiplayer here particularly challenging, but in a good way - you want to keep coming back to improve. The maps are very varied and there is of course good long-term replay value in this game. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the campaign, and am currently addicted to the multiplayer mode. This game will no doubt be on my shelf for some time to come.

A return to form for 'Call of Duty' and Sledgehammer delivers a very good game.
Advanced Warfare is much, much better than the last two iterations of the Call of Duty franchise. It blows away the dire 'Ghosts' and is far better than Black Ops 2 and even MW3 in my opinion. Yes, it does not match up to the first 'Modern Warfare' or MW2 but I do not think any new COD game can - those were exceptional games. I agree with another reviewer here that while the graphics are good and better than the next gen crop of last winter, I get the impression that the game could have done so much better on the PS4 had there not been a need to keep the graphics within reach of the XBOn. However, what there is is good and very pleasing. I won't go into the what the gameplay is like or the campaign as professional reviews on most gaming sites will give you all the details except to say that the single campaign is fun and much, much better than 'Ghosts' and the little I have tried of the multiplayer so far on this first day has also been good. Is it worth spending ยฃ40 odd on this new COD especially for those who may have to choose between this and another game? I would say 'Yes' and I for one do not like anyone to waste their money of sub-par games. Advanced Warfare is nothing like last year's 'Ghosts' or 'Battlefieid 4' which were both very poor in my opinion. The game is set in the future of just forty years away where North Korea has resumed hostilities in South Korea and American troops are sent to eject the invading enemy and this is just the first mission which drops you straight into the action. I would recommend starting the game on 'Hardened' if you want a decent challenge and to extend the gameplay. The game then really gets going from the second mission onwards after the more detailed introduction of Atlas, a PMC (private military corporation) which considers itself a superpower for sale. I am now halfway through the campaign but I am sold and would recommend this to any COD fan wholeheartedly. Listen, if you can't get past the excellence of the first two Modern Warfare games then this game will not do it for you but I think we just have to accept that no game will ever hit such a high note again. Advanced Warfare is as close as you are going to get, at least for now so enjoy it for what it is. Call of Duty: Advance Warfare joins 'Wolfenstein: New Order' (gets my vote for shooter of the year), and 'Shadow Warrior' as the best shooters of 2014. I will update this if I find anything that negates my initial impressions but thus far the game has been nothing but loads of fun.

Honest review!
If you want an honest review about the game, continue reading. If you want to read lies about how it's revolutionary and the best cod yet, click on the 5 star reviews. Firstly, I was debating not even getting this years game after what I personally found was an awful game in Ghosts (Multiplayer, I enjoyed the campaign). After seeing gameplays and trailers, I was even less convinced about this game. But all of that probably worked in my favour because I bought it anyway and had extremely low expectations. My first impressions were that it was very bad, but having got used to the whole idea of exo suits and abilities, I'm slowly coming around to it. I'm enjoying it now and it isn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. I appreciate their efforts at trying to change things this year as even though there's still a lot of call of duty elements to the game, it's probably the least call of duty feeling game to date because of the whole jumping around etc. At first it took some getting used to and I simply wasn't enjoying it (I was enjoying the movement and jumping around while getting from A to B, but not when in a gunfight), but now it's okay. The maps aren't bad, some nice ones on there, but they're all made very big and understandably so because of the exo suits making you get around so much quicker, BUT because of the maps being so big, many gun fights are long range, if not medium range. Very rarely are they close quarters unless you play extremely slowly and campy, which makes shotguns and many SMG's very useless. I find myself using the same 3-4 guns (all assault rifles) because you need them in order to not go 15-20 every game. I am starting to use other guns a bit more, but I still feel most guns are useless. Even snipers to a certain extent because even though maps are big and gun fights are long range, guns kill so quick I find myself either dead already by the time I even get the chance to ADS or they're jumping around and really difficult to get. Don't get me wrong, I love the guns this year, snipers and SMG's included, but I just find them useless. The game is definitely the hardest cod to date, or is for me personally. It's very difficult for me to even get a UAV. I'm by no means a great or even good cod player, but on every other cod I hold around a 1.5-1.7k/d, but this one I have a 1.21 and find myself going barely positive/even most games. There's still very annoying things and I could moan about spawns all day (especially considering this is the ELEVENTH game and spawns have been an issue since day 1... Not only have they not fixed them, they've not even improved them). I'm enjoying the customisation, ranking up and the 13 point system, which is effectively the 10 point system from bo2 but with the 3 extra slots being your killstreaks. I find that side of things feel very much like bo2, which I have no problem with as that one of the things I really did like about bo2. Some people are saying it feels like certain cod games, but I personally feel it's very different. It has elements of other cod games, but it feels futuristic which at first I didn't like one bit, but now am weirdly enjoying. As for the campaign, I'm around halfway through and I am really enjoying it. I love the exo suits, jumping around etc in the campaign. Also, as silly as it sounds, the hitmarkers on the campaign (you get to see the little hitmarker every time you shoot someone), is making it much more satisfying for me when I do shoot enemies. Guns in the campaign are a lot of fun and the story is well told and thought out. Also the graphics are by far the best in a cod game. I rate this years 3/5 because the fact of the matter is, it's not great, but it's not bad either... it's okay, sometimes annoying as hell, other times It's enjoyable. I give it 3 stars because of the little improvements and the campaign being very fun. I've always liked the campaigns (especially cod 4, mw2, bo1), but this years feels very different to all of them and it's a nice fresh feeling.

Long term CoD Fanatic
I have no issues with Amazon here, the item was delivered with no issues. Arrived on time for Day Zero edition packaged well with no fault. But the game itself is really questioned my loyalty to Call of Duty games, I have long been a fanatic and played all Call of Duty's reaching master prestiges and resetting stats and so forth but this game has actually been difficult finding it fun. I play competitively and do aim for high K/D's, if you want to keep playing competitive and have high K/D do not play this game. It is a joke, it's for people who couldn't play previous Call of Duty's hence the jumping and many many many camping spots. I do wish I could list all faults with the game but there is not enough time in the world. If you though Ghosts was a bad game, think again. The maps on this game are generally small and tight like all previous Call of Duty's so I believe it makes sense that SMG's are quite powerful right? Well they aren't, meaning you are stuck using AR in close ranges because they are better than SMG's. One last thing, if you rage and find things unfair don't even contemplate buying, the game is full of glitchy things, spawns are an abomination and Activision made NO (0) amount of effort to fix them. You will spawn into gunfire! It's clear that I really don't like this game here, I have loved all other Call of Duty's bar this one, I am afraid this is the first I will be selling before master prestige.

The graphics were a lot better than previous games but the actual game was okay
I got sick of COD games a long time ago although I kept buying most of them. Ghosts was bulls*** and I right then decided that I wasnt going to buy any more.... but I bought this one too.. I bought COD Ghosts because I wanted to see how COD would change in the new platforms (PS4). The graphics were a lot better than previous games but the actual game was okay. Nothing very special. I bought this new one because it seemed to really be different so I wanted to give it a go. And thank god it did not disappoint. Let me first say that the graphics during video scenes, are the best I have ever seen. Truly amazing, I couldnt believe it. And I am very critical when reviewing graphics. As for the game play, still very good graphics of course but not AS good as the cut scenes. It didnt really matter however because It finally felt like a different game. I enjoyed all the advanced equipment I thought they were definitely exciting. One thing that I really liked is that when you shoot enemies, their movement was accurate as they were getting shot. At least more so than other COD games. And this really helped me enjoy killing all of them. And one thing that I really liked was wearing good headphones while playing. I do this with all games because it makes the biggest difference. In this game, there were so many amazingly crisp quality clicks and other sounds that put me right there in the game. So remember that, because its one thing to hear the game from your TV and its whole other world when you put your headphones on. I gave it 5 stars. I think it deserves it. I would give it 4.5 because its not perfect, but its pretty damn good. Which is something I cant say about any other COD after MW2-3

Meh.
Please take in to account that i have not played the Story mode or The Co-op, this is based on the Multi-player only. So yeah, firstly some info about me so that you get an idea of where i'm coming from. I have been a massive COD fan since COD4 (the first modern warfare title), this game i loved, i really liked MW2 and enjoyed the first Black Ops. MW3 is hands down my favourite game as it seemed to play so well and had some great maps. COD is a game that i would happily spend 1-2 hours a night on yet Black Ops 2 and Ghosts have taken that away, Advanced Warfare has taken it a step further and i'm already looking for a game to trade it in for. Yes it's very fast paced and the kill time is extremely fast (things i would normally appreciate) so why is it that i played it on the opening day for a couple of hours with friends and i've only played two extremely frustrating games since? instead i have found myself going back to Destiny and re-doing the story. I have played COD games that drove me up the wall (Black ops 2 and ghosts) for months before giving up on them yet this game lasted less than two days and i have completely lost interest. This game feels just like Black Ops 2 with some double jumps thrown in basically, that's as close as i can come to an explanation. So yeah, if you loved MW3 and COD4 this may not be for you. If a fast Black Ops 2 appeals then this is for you. I will be switching to Battlefield from now on as i have wasted way to much money on COD titles.

Fun and additive.
I haven't bought a cod game in a while, but since a game that came out a few months early didn't keep my interest I decided to get bk into call of duty. The game is very fun and hectic, it's fast based instant fun and it's instant gratification, but for me that's it's biggest downfalls. I'm used to a lot more tactical fps games, and with this cod It feels less like a first person shooter and more of a hide and seek kind of game where you run around the map as fast as you can hoping to spot someone before they spot you. From what I can tell, things like headshots don't really matter because your dead within a second of someone spotting you anyway. In my experience don't waste time trying to get your crosshair over someone's head in a fire fight because they would of already killed you by shooting your legs/body. I much prefer games that soak up a lot more bullet fire in the torso/legs so there's a point to getting them headshot kills. The spawn points are probably the games biggest failure you will get killed more times from behind in this game than you would in any over fps. I've give the game a positive review score because I'm probably the worst kind of player for this cod game as I'm more of a careful/slow player. I prefer to scope an area out or even patrol the same path/ area for awhile, and in this game with the spawns the way they are it's impossible, but that's not what this games about, and I can appreciate that. There is plenty of game modes to choose from. I haven't played them all, but the ones I have played have been great. So all in all this isn't a very competitive game, it's crazy, fast based action. The futuristic weapons and exo suits are perfect for this type of game, the maps are very decent and fun to play on, and the sizes for most of them are spot on. I hate really small maps. So yea if your looking for a fun game to sit back and switch off and have some fun with this game definitely wont disappoint.
