Works just fine
For literally decades, I had one of those old wooden display cases for cassettes (no longer made, don't even bother trying to look for one!) and while it was great for displaying tapes on a wall, I don't actually need/want to do that anymore and I've been through several moves with that thing and it is a real pain in the you know what to deal with. I'm about to move again so I really wanted to just get my tapes stored properly for transport, and then just keep them that way until/unless I actually want to listen to something. These storage boxes seemed to fit the bill and while there are many options for tape storage on Amazon, about 90% of them are either basically this same design or possibly the exact same product. I went with this one both for its description of having upgraded materials and from looking over very minute details in the pictures of similar products, some of which *may* show some differences that I thought might be important. But it's hard to be sure. What I saw was enough to convince me to go with this one, though. So, bottom line with these is understand what you're getting. If you've ever seen an IKEA storage box, it's a similar idea. Essentially a cardboard frame with fabric on top and some velcro to hold it together. If you realize that's what these are, you won't be disappointed. I knew that going in (it's not exactly hidden) and I think these boxes are just fine. They come packed flat, as you would expect, and you kind of make them by putting in the inserts for structural integrity. You end up with a reasonably rigid box with two rows for tapes and a reinforcing brace in the middle that also serves as a buffer between your tapes. There are no individual compartments and I don't know why some reviewers thought there would be. That's not advertised or shown anywhere. It's just two empty rows for you to put your tapes in. I will say that these really work their best when full, and full of tapes properly in cases. (You can buy tape cases here too; you care enough to store your tapes in storage boxes, may as well do it properly.) Having two full rows of tapes helps keep the carboard from bending or deforming. I have one box that's half full and it's a little more unruly than the other two. But it's still fine, I can just see and feel the cardboard moving around more if I pick it up the wrong way. I think that's why some reviewers think of these boxes as flimsy. It's certainly not a steel case that you're buying. It's cardboard. It's going to bend if you let it. Keeping the box properly full will help with that, just like any other type of cardboard box. Any mostly empty box is going to deform if you pick it up the wrong way or stack stuff on top of it. As for stacking, obviously I keep my one less-full box on top, but generally my three boxes stack just fine. The velcro on the lids also works fine too, although you do need to be a little firm with it because you're pressing against cardboard. The flaps may stick out a little even though they're secure because the velcro is just attached to the fabric, not to the cardboard frame itself. So it may look like the velcro isn't holding, but it is. Overall I'm giving five stars because these are exactly what I expected and they do the job I wanted them to do. Just don't be expecting high end materials or indestructability with these boxes and you'll like them fine.

Not bulky.
Works good. Not bulky like the old style cases. Slim and neat and holds 48 tapes in cases in each one.

Its not as good as in the description
Not very good construction and not realy waterproof. Arrives with a thin nylon bag with no instructions. If water proof is not an issue but you simply want a storage case for your tapes then I assume its ok.

What is the "fabric"? Is it synthetic? If so, ?acrylic, ?polyester, ?nylon, ?spandex ?other
"This cassette organizer is made of customized thickened non-woven fabric and high hardness cardboard" For archival storage suitabiity how can I find out what product (chemicals? plasticisers) is used to thicken the fabric, and what is the fabric? Concerned about any off-gassing. "Avoid using PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic because as it deteriorates, it gives off hydrochloric acid. The plasticizers used in PVC can affect photographic materials such as slides, prints and negatives as well as rubber materials and modern plastics. It is also best to avoid the use of cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate (diacetate and triacetate) and polyurethanes"--from a sound & moving images archivist ***Otherwise, the boxes are very attractive, convenient, easy to assemble, and very well designed. I'll order a lot more if Nuswor or Amazon can answer my questions about materials used in the boxes.***

'Great cassette storage box!'
The cassette storage box is great! It has a lot of room to store all my cassette tapes and I really liked the cover that keeps my cassette tapes from collecting dust which would make it difficult to play my cassette tapes on my boombox. It is very strong as well as durable and the box holds all my cassette tapes without any issues. Thank you, Amazon, for having great products that are difficult to find anywhere!
