The album was partly developed during live performances, and the band premiered an early version of the suite at London's Rainbow Theatre several months before recording began. 'The Dark Side of the Moon' is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in March 1973. The new material was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. The iconic sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. 'The Dark Side of the Moon' has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. Piper at the gates of dawn was my first ever album purchase on cassette when I was 15, still have it kicking around somewhere. 68 this year. Have purchased Dark Side on cassette and CD, my wife had the original on vinyl but her rubbish record player had ruined it. Hopefully my Denon system wont. If you already have it on vinyl, maybe give it a miss, but if you have a decent turntable and only have the CD, then this copy is well worth the money. I am gradually purchasing the classics on vinyl,this is a no brainer. The , probably greatest of Pink Floyd's albums. This version sounds better than my CD,more warmth and depth. A classic album in every way
An essential album for any classic rock devotee, and well worth the investment, even if you already own an earlier copy of this '70s masterpiece.

One of the all time greats
Always loved this album. Still making it into album charts and still going strong for 55 years. At one stage spent a massive 14 years in the album charts WOW. Some of these manufactured crap can't last 14 minutes. Anyway just love this album to bits.

Yeah great album, great sound blah blah blah... but total kudos to the production of this as a physical item. The cover feels velvet, two posters, two stickers and the inner sleeve features an acid free liner... Small details but it shows a pleasing level of attention to detail

Greatest album ever conceived (especially on vinyl)
I mean come on, it's The Dark Side of The Moon, probably the greatest albums ever made, and the vinyl came in perfectly intact and it sounds euphoric as always
