They hold your phone securely without worry of losing it even under excessive vibration (such as from a V-Twin motorcycle engine or riding your mountain bike off road). I haven't had any problems getting any charge cords to fit regardless of how bulky the plug has been. I've also not had any problems charging wirelessly through any of the cases either. All of my phones have been adequately protected when I've dropped them. Which, thankfully, hasn't been all that often.
