Really useful to help kids to learn draw

Great for learners

For the price, this book does provide a good number of exercises for you try. It also provides space for you to do this, forming a sort of 'all in one workbook'. However, I didn't find many of the exercises particularly interesting or stimulating. I understand beginning with basics, but as someone who had done some drawing previously and wanted to get back into it, I found myself skipping many of the early pages and realised I was losing motivation due to the nature of the drawings not really appealing to me. Perhaps some of this is just personal preference, and perhaps someone who is an absolute beginner would find the book more useful. The book does give step-by-step images for each exercise as described. However, it would have been nice to have some short text descriptions alongside these, as they can be ambiguous. For example, should a ruler be used for the guidelines on the 3D shapes? How is the crosshatch shown in the penultimate image of many exercises converted into shading? These are things beginners will not necessarily know and could perhaps use a bit of guidance on. There is definitely some value to this book if you are looking for something reasonably priced, are just starting out, and don't really mind what you are drawing. However, if you consider yourself anything above an absolute beginner, you would perhaps benefit more from a book which is more in-depth, or from directing your own practice with subjects you find interesting.

I bought this book for my 12 year old daughter. She loves it the explanation and pictures are easy to follow and has helped her with her drawing tenfold. Great book for all ages and well worth the money too 👍

Good book for teaching you how to draw, stage by stage

Ich habe ernsthaft das Gefühl, ein sehr teures Malbuch für Kinder gekauft zu haben, bei dem jede zweite Seite leer ist, damit Sie üben können, was der Autor mit einem Computerprogramm gezeichnet hat. Ich habe ihm einen zweiten Sternebonus gegeben, weil das Buch gut gebaut ist. Sie können dies leicht durch ein Malbuch für Kinder, ein Lineal und einen Winkelmesser sowie einen Stapel billiges Druckerpapier ersetzen. Ich werde es wenn möglich zurückgeben./ Good if your intentions for learning to draw are for making children's coloring books or if you write children's stories but not for anyone who has learned the basics anywhere else. There are very few regular drawing examples. Most are for ages 6-10 yrs of age it seems. There are no words after page one so no instructions. It only gives examples of seemingly basic school coloring book style drawings. I am not glad I bought it. I do not recommend this book for adults who wish to learn to draw. I seriously feel like I bought a very expensive child coloring book that every other page is blank for you to practice what the author drew by computer program. I gave it a second star bonus because the book is well built. You could easily replace this with a child's coloring book, a ruler and a protractor and a stack of cheap printer paper. I will return it if possible.
