0.10in Inner Black Skin Cover PMMA Plastic Endeglow Optic Fiber Cables for Car Led Light Source (3.28ft Long)

If you need to see the status of a hidden indicator, use this fiber cable to easily pipe it anywhere you need it. I built a battery box to provide DC power to amateur radio equipment while transportable (okay, it's a 100 AH LiFePO4 battery that weighs in at around 30 pounds, so it hardly qualifies as portable - it has a handle to transport it). Inputs are the battery, potential DC power supply, and solar panels for charging, with a control unit that serves as charge controller and DC UPS, but that controller is inside the box to protect it and to clean up the outside. It worked well, but it also meant the only way to see the LED indicators on the control unit was to open the lid. The first time it was put into operation, I realized that seeing those status LEDs from the outer compartment would be very helpful. Lots of modern surface mounted equipment use some form of light pipes to make the indicators visible outside the case. I started searching for plastic fiber optic pipe and settled on this product. Note there are two major categories available - side glow and end glow. Side glow is great for trim illumination, but it was the opposite of what I needed. This light pipe transmits most of the light from one end to the other, making the indicators as bright as possible in a small spot - exactly what I needed. Even before I got the pieces installed, it was obvious this was exactly the right product. When I unrolled the cable, one end fell into a spot of sunlight and the other shines brightly. I chose the 0.20" diameter because that was just about the size of the indicator LEDs. I pulled the black skin back just a bit, trimmed the center fiber, then pulled the skin back over the end. The skin fit nicely over the LED and captured the light into the fiber. A small dab of hotmelt glue holds it in place. Now the main battery, power supply, and solar panel indicators are extended to the switch, power input, and solar input connectors. Holes in the panel holding all the external connectors fit the outside of the skin cover at the surface secured by additional hotmelt. Because the fiber is plastic instead of glass, it's more durable, flexible, and easy to work with. I suspect that also means it is slightly less efficient transmitting light, but it still works very well.

I am very happy with this product. I wish I could get it in much longer lengths. The light transmission seems good and the black jacket is durable. It is flexible and easy to feed through holes in walls.

Stiffer than expected. But other than that works great. To get it to hold the bed and I want to get a hold I simply use my wife’s hairdryer to heat it slightly and very slowly and it works great. Nice light transmission.

I used this to cure the inside of my 3d prints with my UV flashlight. It worked great, I just had to print an adapter to hold it.

These glow rods are excellent for crafting and DIY projects. The material is sturdy, and the glow effect is vibrant and long-lasting. The price is affordable for the quantity included. Highly recommend for anyone looking to add unique lighting to their designs.

Didn't seem to be very well made and light transfer could have been much better

It transfers light very well. My only complaint is the clear fiber optic is not adhered to the black sheath. It can move in and out of it. Just something to be cautious of when aligning things.

Product arrived exactly as described. I got what I wanted, a large bore fiber optic cable. My only concern was that the item is expensive, hence the one star deduction. I would buy the cable again and would recommend it to others who need a large bore fiber optic cable.
