Why on Earth would anyone need this camera? Well, I had a Pi Camera Module 3, and that ribbon cable is a nightmare. So I figured "I can probably write my code and test it on my PC instead of trying to figure out how to replace those tiny connector cable-clips on the Pi board..." I was right. This is sooooo much less frustrating/fragile than the other camera. It's physically smaller, which meant I had to change some dimensions of my print mount, but that is infinitely better than wanting to set a Pi on fire. Otherwise, I have no idea who the customer base for this is, beyond "Jaded first-time Pi user." Fine camera, though.

Was easy to connect to our robot (which was critical). Did not work as planned but does work in other environments. Should be able to get it to work for our application with some additional time. (Didn't have much when item was purchased). Would definitely recommend.

I'm just getting started with this, but I love the fact that it is plug and play on the Mac. I bought it for raspberry pi, but testing things from the Mac is sometimes more convenient. You just plug the camera in and quick time and photo booth are ready to go. Raspberry pi was almost as fast. But you don't use the rpicamera utilities, since it is a usb camera. You use v412-ctl. One downside is the usb connector is usb-a. So you'll probably need a hub/adaptor I have tested it with both and it is working with both.

Don't know why I thought this camera would look good. I overlooked the glaring 1MP quality. It'll capture at a high fps, sure, but it'll look like garbage and pausing on any frame gives you a scrambled compression-artifact-filled pixelated mess. Invest in a better one, this one aint it.
