The Newlywed's Instruction Manual: Essential Information, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice for the First Year of Marriage (Owner's and Instruction Manual) Paperback – April 1, 2009

I gave this to my fiance for Christmas (our wedding is just a few months from now). He loves it and keeps showing me pages to read. Its funny, but its also practical and has a lot of good advice, everything from how different types of people need to unwind at the end of the day (and respecting each other's stye), to budget management, to kitchen organization, to... lol, my favorite chapter "I love you, but not the noises you make." (Spoiler alert: its largely about snoring / bathroom stuff and maintaining the mystery and romance when you're living together. I would also highly recommend "The Bride's Instruction Manual" and "The Groom's Instruction Manual" from the same series.

I found this book very fun to read. It has lots of pictures and cute little diagrams, and the author makes lots of jokes. I think this book would make a good, light-hearted bridal shower gift. My least favorite thing about this book and the other "Owner's and Instruction Manual" style books is the way the spines bend and crack very easily. If you do not like cracked spines, I would not recommend a used copy of this book; however, the pages are thick (they don't fall out too easily) and a used copy is probably fine for most purposes.

Gave to my daughter and new husband. She said it has great information and is helpful.

A simple book with good advice. It seems a little more aimed at very young couples and my new wife and I found that we had already adapted most of the information in this book, but instead of feeling that we weren't learning much we just felt like we were off to a great start. It really does seem to do a good job moving from right after you are married to settling in. Some chapters might be out of place in current society (moving in together after the wedding), but most of it was very relevant. Planning to purchase more for other couples getting married to give as gifts.

Got this as a wedding present for our friends and they loved it. A good, cheap addition to a wedding present for some fun and entertainment after the wedding.

I purchased this as a gift because The Baby Owner's Manual by the same publisher is utterly HILARIOUS and is always a hit as a baby shower gift, so I hoped this book would live up to my same expectations. Unfortunately I wasn't as thrilled with this book. It's not bad, it's just not as great as I expected compared to the baby book, and the advice contained in it is all kind of obvious stuff. I do acknowledge that it's supposed to be humorous and not a really solid advice book (although the baby book does contain some terrific tips), but it just didn't really meet my expectations. *shrug* It's more of a silly gift; if you give it to someone, you'll probably want to give it alongside a "real" gift, which is what I'll likely do.
