I am posting 4 stars because I haven't really used it, but I am already MUCH happier right now than I was yesterday after I spent a couple of hours trying to get the camera to connect to my phone. Install app, uninstall, reinstall, disable firewall. I tried every single one of their tips and others learned over the decades, but nothing could get phone and camera to dance together. Replacement camera arrived today. First, I readied myself for hours of frustration headed my way. I turned the camera on, tapped Add Device, and it was discovered almost instantaneously. Set up was suddenly the breeze the other commenters experienced. Look who's dancing now! Inside my home, "Live view" looked good. I've put it in a dark, secluded area I want to check tonight for critters. I'll be back with a more complete review in the future. For those of you struggling to figure out the secret dance moves required to get your phone to find your camera, stop wasting time. Return it. I wish I had known yesterday that it wasn't the poorly written Set Up Manual.

Left this camera in the woods behind my house for 3.5 weeks, went to check and it was full of water, no recordings and my computer wouldnt even recognise the SD card. I have another camera same as this that was also out in the same location that worked perfectly well, this unit was defective.

Takes good pictures and motion detection works great. Very durable. good value for the money. Can use for security to.

UPDATE: nearly one year later, I just received an unexpected email from the company, apologizing for the product defect and offering a refund via Amazon e-gift card. I accepted, and will receive it after I update this review. I appreciate the company attempting to make things right, even if it was a year later. I'm increasing my review from 1 to 4 stars, and hopefully future customers will receive quicker customer service response time than I did-- put the product itself would have been great. Just someone I guess didn't do their job checking the batteries before shipment. Unboxed my camera today, in order to set it up/install it ahead of time as a birthday surprise for my dad. As soon as I put the batteries (that came with the camera) in, the camera settings showed the batteries were only at 60%. I thought that was odd but hoped somehow they’d magically charge or maybe it would just take time for the camera/TrailCameraGo app to register the percentage accurately.. Once I went through the camera’s settings to program everything, I mounted it to a tree using the strap and turned the camera to OFF. Several hours later (at night time) I walked out to turn it on. I logged into the TrailCam app, and it informed me my camera battery was low and would power off soon. Seconds later, camera was totally dead. So now I have a trail camera that doesn’t work, and I live an hour and a half away from any stores (where I could buy more batteries… but I should not HAVE to buy batteries! That’s why I chose this camera in the first place- because it was suppose to have everything I needed to get it up and running!) Now I will not be able to get the camera working in time for my Dad’s birthday party. So yeah. I’m bummed. And I contacted the “Help” (via chat through the Trail Cam app) and that was no help. Customer service told me, and I quote: “Your battery is not unpacked and is a new one. Battery wear and tear cannot be avoided, please replace the battery. Sorry.“ In conclusion, if you’re like me, buying this camera because it’s super convenient that it comes with everything you need? DON’T. Go with a camera that either comes with WORKING batteries, or just a better quality camera and buy your own batteries to go with that. ;P I will update my review if/when I receive any satisfactory response from customer service. Update: just letting everyone know that customer service never helped.. just said that the batteries can have “normal wear and tear” from the warehouse. 🧐 So… I’m paying for a brand new product that, by the time it ships to me is at 60% and 0% functional within 24 hours. (These are not rechargeable batteries by the way.) not okay. Update: almost 3 months later, and customer service never helped. Camera does not work at all any more. I do not recommend buying from the company!

update: company refunded cost of the two cameras after I posted review. refund was a good resolution, although im still out 4 months of photos on each camera. make sure you can get the photos off the camera before using, other than that it is a nice compact camera that is easy to use and has great resolution. original review: Do not buy!!! Company product support website is taken down. Memory card cannot be read by any of the devices I have tried and no product support. Set it out for 4 months, got some great pictures. Computer at work cant read memory card, computer at home cant read memory card. Tried different memory cards and the camera corrupts them. Bought two cameras and they are throw aways. (I typically run 10 trail cameras per season, been doing that for about 7 years now. I bought these to get higher resolution pictures. Both cameras are throw aways now and I went back to buying the wosport cameras.
