It worked great and the oil also helps to nourish the leather strop. It seems to adhere better to leather that's been conditioned. On dry leather, the paste becomes a fine powder that rubs away. With just 1 application, I can strop till the strop becomes black and shiny from being loaded up with metal particles. Using a simple pencil eraser, the shiny surface becomes matte again (but still dark grey) and I can continue to strop without adding more paste. Very aggressive and easily beats (by several orders or magnitude) green chromium oxide in speed, edge refinement and polish. Gentle stropping that takes forever? Not anymore, girlfriend. I strop hard and my knives' edges are sharper than they've ever been. And that's straight from a 2$ (yes, 2 dollars) 400-ish grit soaking stone. Definitely the best stropping compound I've ever used.
