Sunweyer Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter 2 in 1 Auto Connect Box, Supports Online Updates Wired to Wireless for Cars Have Wired Carplay

I have a 2023 Subaru WRX GT. It does NOT have wireless Android Auto, despite the dealer saying that it did! But, whatever. I've had a few different dongles, and they've all given me issues with either dropping the connection, locking up, etc. This one works great! The only issue is about once a month, for 2 or 3 days, it will randomly change the pin, so I have to OK the connection to my phone every single time. But then? It stops and just works flawlessly for a few weeks until it does that again. Aside from that, it's solid, so it's really a minor issue. I cannot get the firmware update to work, though. Not sure if there *IS* a firmware update, but overall, I'm quite happy with this.

I’ve tried and returned a number of these wireless CarPlay adapters none of which were acceptable. Mainly dropped connections and lag. This unit is affordable and great. Coming in at 1/3 the price of the others that I’ve tried. Direct USB insert, ZERO WIRES ! There is a tiny bit of lag but not an issue at all. It remembers your phone and reconnects flawlessly every time. Great product. Highly recommend!

I reviewed many brands but this one caught my attention due to its simplicity of connection and size. I use it with Android and Apple and I can tell you that it works correctly with any system. I like how fast it connects with Android Auto or Carplay, the good quality of calls and music. I have had the product for more than a week and I have not seen any delay in the entire ecosystem with the phone wirelessly. I recommend it 100%.

When it connected to the car it gave a smooth car play experience. Unfortunately it would only auto-connect around 1/2 the time. Firmware was updated to latest revision as of July 2024 and it made no difference. Other times it would connect and the car play screen would not show, which would require it to be disconnected and reconnected or it would not connect period. Purchased a similar adapter from another manufacturer (MSXTTLY) and it works 100% of the time and connects automatically, so connectively issues appear to be a result of the Sunweyer dongle itself.

The product worked well after a week of use, it only had one outage, I have traveled through areas where wireless AA was always interrupted when using another dongle from a recognized brand, but this device fulfilled its function very well. Update almost three months ago: It does not start automatically and finally Android Auto cannot be paired even though I have reset the Bluetooth records of the phone and the car, deleted the Android Auto memory, so at the moment it is not working for me useful.

I ordered this device for my Audi Q5 2019 which do not have wireless CarPlay. After checking many reviews in YouTube, I got this but the experience is not great. This device works but has some issues. As per the instructions, I plugged in to USB-A and then connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth. As expected it detected and my car display shown the CarPlay screen. Dongle was disconnected from Bluetooth and connected to Sunweyer WiFi, not sure why. If you have a high quality sound system, sound quality decreases to half as the musics plays via CarPlay using this dongle. I have bang and olufsen sound system and felt like a cheap speaker while listening music using CarPlay with this dongle. Other issue I faced, even you have turned off your car this dongle will be still connected to your phone WiFi and do not allow your home WiFi to connect at least for 10 mins. So overall this device works but a lot to be fixed for the seem-less experience. I’m returning it.

Die Installation war ein Kinderspiel (einfach einstecken und koppeln) und die Verbindung bleibt während der Fahrt stabil. Die Reaktionszeit ist top, keine spürbare Verzögerung. The device itself is no bigger than any USB wireless adapter and comes in a small box with a USB C converter cable and a manual. Updating the firmware wouldn't work from the car via my mobile when accessing the firmware page, it just wouldn't download the firmware. In the end, I put the dongle in a PC which has Wifi and Wired connection, and connected my PC wifi to the access point in the dongle, and I was able to update it that way with the PC downloading the update via my wired connection. This is very important, as the newer firmware has GPS passthrough from the Car to the phone which improves performance. Once setup, opening the car door and the phone screen appearing on the car dashboard is around 15 seconds, and often happens before I could get the seatbelt on and start the car. In fact the longest delay is the car head-unit doing it's own bootup. Phone call performance was very good, as is touch screen performance, seemed very fast. Music playback was fine, and I didn't notice any difference between wired & wireless performance. The Wi-fi itself in the dongle is Wifi 4 (n band) across 5ghz, so the bandwidth is good. Only tested with iphone on IOS 17.5, so can't vouch for Android performance.

If you can get this for under $90 this is simply a no brainer over the competition. The only other adapter worth considering is the Carlinkit as it also has GPS passthrough. This was highly recommend by a Youtuber, CarPlayLife, and rightfully so. It's quick due to the fast framerate refresh and GPS passthrough helps with battery life so it's using your car's GPS vs your phone GPS. You just need to upgrade the firmware as soon as you get it and can be done upgraded wirelessly over the air (OTA) without plugging adapter into a computer. Firmware support is likely going to diminish over time/non-existent over the years but you'll likely only need to upgrade the firmware once for the GPS passthrough.
