Is it the chimney breast? Thank you** A: Hello, When it comes to measuring your chimney we always advise trying to locate the narrowest point that's within reach. This might be an area quite close to the bottom of the fireplace or it might be an area that is a little bit further up the chimney. Some Chimneys stay the same the whole way up to the roof while others taper and narrow - some are completely random ! I would use a torch to look up the chimney to locate the narrowest point. Once this has been located using a tape measure either - if the flue is circular measure the diameter. Or if the flue is vaguely oblong measure the width of the chimney ( side to side) and the depth of the chimney ( front to back ) If you do have any trouble with measuring you're absolutely welcome to give us a call directly and one of our lovely team will talk you through it on the phone.
