Dust Collection System: 1.6-HP Dust Collector Media Reclaimer with 1.8 Gallon Capacity - Universal Fit for Sandblaster Cabinets and Media Blasters

I almost didn't buy this dust collector because of all the conflicting reviews but I'm glad I did. Shipping was a few days faster than advertised which was nice. I mounted this dust collector on a Harbor Freight blast cabinet. The existing hole in the cabinet was an exact fit for the dust collector. I only needed to drill four holes in the cabinet to get it 100% mounted. I think I only spent 10 minutes getting it installed and I was up and running. It works perfectly. I only have a few hours on it so far but it works great. I was using a 5hp Shop Vac for two years and this works better by far. It is easier to reclaim blast material out of the dust collector. A Shop Vac is about the same price as this dust collector. Other reviewers complain about noise. It is loud but not unusually loud for a vacuum/ dust collector used in industry. My 5hp Shop Vac was just as loud as is every other Shop Vac I ever used of that size. I always used hearing protection before and I do need to now with this dust collector. It is loud but that is how this type of equipment is. I sand blast as part of my business and do it many times a week hours at a time. I don't have an issue with this unit. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm happy with it. Contrary to other reviewers I think installation was fast and simple, noise level is typical, and performance for the size and price point is in line with what you get.

I mounted this to the typical HF cabinet. It replaced a ShopVac/dust deputy setup that worked but lost suction fairly quickly. I use medium crushed glass media. 1. Yes, it's loud (wear hearing protection) 2. You'll have to clean the filter (Remove it and knock out the dust) after about every hour of use. 3. It moves a ton of air when the filter is clean and will suck up media. Dump the media out of the bottom before cleaning out the filter so you can put that back in the cabinet without the dust. 4. It's not a miracle cure, it still requires maintenance but when it's working it's a lot better than a regular ShopVac. 5. I'm sure the included filter is letting some very fine dust through it, You can tell when it's running. If you are sensitive to that then just wear a dust mask when in use.

This was relatively easy to install. It’s pretty noisy and throws media out of the exhaust. I tried tightening the filter retaining nut, and ended up putting a piece of sheet metal between the motor and the blast cabinet. I can’t think of any reason media is getting past the filter element.

Does the job

Maybe the worst thing I have ever purchased from Amazon. Plugged it in, turned it on, ran for maybe 3 seconds, made a grinding sound and it quit. Done . Kaput. Back it goes. Get to wait in line at the UPS store.

I have a 25 gallon cabinet and it specifically says this dust collector is not compatible due the size (too small) shopped for a shop vac and any descent one was well over $150 so I decided to take my chances with the dust collector. Glad I did. I bought a 10ft vac hose to go with it to tame the suction a bit and made sure my connections were air tight. I couldnt ask for better results.

Works ok leaks a little sand and dust out though.

Very nice unit excellent price, i added the ten thousand watt reostat here, which allows for full speed adjustment, it fit my original style HF blast cabinet from the early 2010s the fully welded model prior to the screw together style, it makes a huge difference from using a vortex and shop vac, I did note the included instructions recommend not using it with silica based media, which made me scratch my head since glass bead is technically silica and many industrial cabinets or even cheap harbor freight ones are gonna use that type of media at some point.. This leads me to believe.You may need a pre filter.. But the vortex will fit in the cabinet.So maybe that would make a good pre filter.Who knows for the price?Just run it.And if it burns out, it burns out.

Had to modify my powerfist cabinet but it worked super well. Needs to have the filters shaken and cleaned (not replaced, just smacked a little) every 1-2 hours of blasting. Creates negative pressure which is great for dust collection

Für meine Vevor 40 Gallonen Kabine ist es in der ursprünglichen Leistung überdimensioniert. Mit einer entsprechenden Spannungsangleichung funktioniert es bestens. Es herrscht somit der ideale Unterdruck zum Absaugen des Nebels in der Kabine und sorgt somit auch für eine freie Sicht im Innenraum. Nach einer sorgfältigen Kontrolle vorab, der perfekten Platzierung des Filters und der Dichtung, hält dieses Absauggerät ALLES im Behälter und bläst es nicht raus. Der Behälter sollte zwischendurch geleert und der Filter ausgeblasen werden. Die Lautstärke hält sich in Grenzen und verringert sich mit der Drehzahlanpassung. Für mich die perfekte Ergänzung. Erst recht für größere Kabinen.

Funciona bien y tiene potencia. Un defecto que veo es qué hace un ruido espantoso! Se podía haber cuidado algo este punto.
