I’ve bought two of these now for both of my 55 gallon aquariums. I know some reviews are saying their lifetime isn’t very long and I can’t really comment on that aspect at least. The first one I bought was close to six months ago and it’s still going strong so even though I haven’t had it up to a year I think there’s a good chance it’ll last til then or longer. It’s also in a heavily stocked cichlid tank(by accident) it originally handled the load from 16 cichlid. It now handles 12 adults and somewhere between 30-50 babies.(less than 2 inches or 1 inch in size) It is also a heavily planted tank to so keep that in mind. But overall, I’ve had two other similar filters, and this one is easily the best. It’s quieter than the others, works better, and it hasn’t gotten clogged up once. Which was a reoccurring problem for others that I found and they would stop pumping out air bubbles for the tank to get oxygen. That hasn’t happened once with this pump. I highly recommend this pump if you’re looking for one of this style.

I bought the TARARIUM Aquarium Filter Powerful 260GPH for 35-75 Gallon Fish Tank filter for my red eared slider turtle's tank (55 gallon tank with about 25 gallons of water). I rescued the turtle and honestly had no idea how dirty these guys are. I have had to replace multiple filters, so I bought this as a replacement and as a second filter to the one I already had. The filter uses no cartridges (saves $$), it has foam that you take out and clean each time it needs cleaning. The foam gets dirty pretty quickly but there is no additional cost for extra filters unless the foam detierorates, although that has not been an issue yet! It functions well and cleans the water and the filth well. It has a hose that uses air (I attach the hose to my a fake plants branch) and it creates a strong stream or current that my turtle loves to stand in, the pressure massages him! I have had the filter for a few months now and I waited to write the review so I could provide a real review and I am extremely happy with this filter. I would buy again and recommend. It is durable, quiet and my turtle loves it! I reached out to the company when I received it because I thought I was missing something and they responded right away. Customer service is good too! I don't know how it would be for fish, the water is pushed pretty hard by the air, but I am happy with it for my turtle!!!
