Will not buy any other now!
I recently tried by Amazon Strong White Flour, 1.5kg for baking bread at home, and it’s quickly become my go-to flour for every loaf. The texture is nice and strong, just what you want when making bread. It produces dough with great elasticity and structure — I’ve had excellent rise and crumb every time. Whether I’ve made a classic white loaf or a seeded sourdough, this flour performs consistently well. I also like that it’s packaged in a generous 1.5kg bag that stays fresh between bakes. The flour itself feels clean and finely milled, and it mixes smoothly without clumping. No weird after-taste, nothing gritty, just reliable, high-quality strong flour that gives professional-style results at home. I’ve been really happy with my bread outcomes, and this flour makes the process easy even for a home baker like me. great value, consistent performance, and excellent for all kinds of yeasted bread. Highly recommended!

Good for making bread and at a decent price.
Re Amazon Strong White Flour 1.5kg. Reasonable priced flour, that makes a decent loaf, even when making your bread the old fashioned way, by hand, as I do. Who needs a bread making machine anyway?. Making your own bread is easy enough, its fun to do, and without all the dreaded additives they stick in supermarket breads too. Add some mixed seeds and/or a bit of olive oil to give it some extra flavour and ditch the salt!. Good to mix with wholemeal/other bread flours (half and half mix) too, to give a bit of texture to your bread. Home made bread tastes so much better too (my opinion anyway).

Reliable and Affordable Flour for Perfect Homemade Bread
As an avid home baker, I recently tried by Amazon Strong White Flour, 1.5kg, and I’m impressed with its performance for bread making. Marketed as ideal for crafting loaves, rolls, and other baked goods, this flour delivers consistent results at a budget-friendly price. Here’s my in-depth take on why this product is a solid choice for both novice and experienced bakers. Packaging and Delivery: The flour arrived in a sturdy, recyclable paper bag, well-sealed to ensure freshness. The 1.5kg size is convenient for regular bakers, fitting easily into pantry storage. Delivery was prompt, and the packaging held up well during transit. I appreciated the clear labelling, which includes allergen information (contains wheat gluten and may not be suitable for soya allergy sufferers due to manufacturing methods). Quality and Performance: This strong white flour, fortified with wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin, and wheat gluten, is designed for bread making, and it performs admirably. Its high protein content (though not explicitly stated, typical for strong white flour at around 11-13%) ensures good gluten development, resulting in a well-risen, airy loaf with a nice crumb structure. I tested it in both hand-kneaded sourdough and bread machine recipes, and it produced a light, crusty loaf with a subtle, clean wheat flavour. The dough was easy to work with, holding its shape well during proofing and baking. Compared to pricier brands like Marriage’s or Doves Farm, it holds its own, though it may lack the nuanced flavour of artisan flours. Value for Money: One of the standout features of this flour is its affordability. Priced competitively (often around £1-£2 for 1.5kg, based on similar Amazon own-brand products), it’s a fantastic option for those baking regularly without wanting to splurge on premium brands. The 1.5kg bag is enough for multiple loaves, making it cost-effective for families or frequent bakers. For the price, the quality is surprisingly high, offering great value for everyday baking. Versatility: Beyond traditional white bread, I used this flour for pizza dough and flatbreads, and it performed well in both. The dough for pizza was chewy yet crisp, while flatbreads were soft and pliable. It’s also suitable for rolls, focaccia, or even as a base for enriched doughs like cinnamon buns, though for sweeter recipes, you might need to adjust liquid ratios due to its strong gluten content. Its versatility makes it a pantry essential for various baking projects. Sustainability and Sourcing: While the product page doesn’t highlight specific sustainability credentials, the flour is produced by Amazon EU Sarl, with manufacturing details suggesting European sourcing. I’d love to see more transparency about wheat origins or certifications like organic or Rainforest Alliance, as seen with brands like Doves Farm. However, the recyclable paper packaging is a step in the right direction for eco-conscious bakers. Minor Considerations: The flour works wonderfully, but the lack of detailed nutritional or protein content information on the packaging might frustrate bakers who prefer precise specs for their recipes. Additionally, the paper bag, while recyclable, isn’t resealable, so transferring to an airtight container is recommended to maintain freshness. Those seeking organic or unbleached flour might want to look elsewhere, as this is a standard fortified flour. Final Thoughts: by Amazon Strong White Flour, 1.5kg is a reliable, budget-friendly choice for home bakers who want consistent results without the premium price tag. It delivers well-risen, flavourful bread with a good texture, making it ideal for everything from sourdough to pizza. While it may not have the artisan pedigree of higher-end flours, its performance and value make it a go-to for everyday baking. I’ll definitely keep this in my pantry for my next loaf! Highly recommended for anyone looking to bake quality bread on a budget.

Amazing quality and value
This flour for the price is amazing value - the protein content is about 12% so a bit lower than the premium brands but it runs about 50% less expensive, i normally top it up with a bit of Manitoba or very strong - and most importantly it makes great bread - try it and see

Packaging.
The box was undamaged but on opening it I noticed loose flour. 2 of the bags were split and had to be taped up. The paper is thinner than other brands. I’ve used this product before and it’s good flour but needs more careful packing and more robust packaging. Perhaps this reflects the price as it’s great value.

Good bread 🍞
For 1.5k of flour for £1.25 you can appreciate my scepticism on whether this would bake good bread. YES!...And I'm pretty fussy. Made a fantastic loaf in my pullman tin. Looked and tasted great. The dough was well risen and the bread had a lovely taste and texture. Smelt lovely too. Supermarkets have become so expensive now, but I'll be buying my bread flour here from now on.
