It does wash. It does have plenty of adjustment for chest size. The 2xl fits our cattle dog well. The sleeve cuffs come to just the top of his paw standing. I took a picture measuring the inseam at 10 inches. We used this for a hot spot on the top of the foot area along side a doughnut cone and it has worked fairly well. When the cone broke the sleeve kept him from worrying the Hotspot. Of course the vet gifted us with a "cone of shame" that was problematic for both him and us. He not only got stuck in some of his favorite places, he also figured out how to pull it off. So we ordered this sleeve, to cover his wound, and it was a LIFESAVER! Not only did it protect his stitches and the recovering wound, it was loose enough for property airflow and healing, and to also keep everything clean. The sleeve seemed pretty comfortable, didn't affect our dogs ability to lay in his favorite places, go through the dog door or restrict him as he recovered. With it he got to ditch the cone of shame and feel like he was having a pretty normal life, and so did we! Bonus...it made him look a little bit lie a buffed up wrestler, we had so many people compliment us on how cute he looked and that he only needed a bowtie. Best news was that the vet was really impressed with this sleeve during his follow up appointment when she also told us the tumor was cancer free!
