Office Chair Cylinder Replacement - Sytopia Fix Sinking Office Chairs, 4 Pieces Clamps Prevent Office Chair Cylinder from Sinking, up to 5 Inches, No Tools required, Only fits 28mm Piston

I've had the product for nearly a month and it has worked without issue. I use the chair for several hours every day and I am a big guy. About 275 lbs. I had read another fellow over 300 lbs. had had long-term success with this fix and that made me confident when placing my order. I had no issue with installation but I strongly suggest you use a pair of channel lock pliers to snap the two pieces together. Then it really is a "snap". Easy, and you'll hear the pieces lock. I am using two pair of collars for the height I needed but with the kit you will have lots of options. I suspect complaints about installation or durability arose from trying to install the 2 piece "clamps" barehanded. Of course in using this solution you are effectively eliminating the gas cylinder so there is no "bounce" or cushioning to the chair frame. It might as well be a solid steel tube. But I can use the chair all day without having to repeatedly raise the seat. For the price this was a great fix. The leather, or more likely vinyl cover on the seat and arms of my chair had no visible wear, and the frame looked like new. I may replace the gas cylinder in the future, but this was a very effective and cost efficient solution for a constantly sinking seat.

Worked great to fix my $700 office chair that the cylinder stopped working after having the chair for 4years and not wanting to replace the chair. I will say that I needed to use a larger pair of pliers to snap them in place. I am a plus size individual and they seem very sturdy thus far. No more sinking office chair.

Saved my favorite chair!! I’m very picky about my gaming chairs so I really didn’t want to buy another one. Also didn’t want to pay for another one just because mine was sinking. This saved my chair and my wallet! Very easy to use had it installed in less than 5minutes. I love how you can pick different heights so I got the perfect fit. 10/10. Very durable.

This is not for the heavy duty/thick pistons. Standard piston only. It worked out for my child's computer chair that she got from me before I bought my heavy duty chair. Hope this helps everybody.

I hadn't ever seen a product like this before purchasing, so I figured id try it out. I was so impressed with the quality and simplicity of this product! It took me a total of maybe 5 minutes to install, no help or tools needed, and now my office chair sits perfectly at the height I need. One thing I like so much about this product is the multiple sizes that come in the order, which allows you to adjust the cylinder sizes to accommodate the perfect height you intend to use on your desk chair. No sinking since, and it was such an inexpensive fix, I would highly recommend this product again and again!!

When I opened the "tiny" box these came in my initial thought was "I made a mistake". There is no way that these little pieces of plastic are going to hold my 6'3" - 320 lbs. body (I always tell people I am still at my NFL playing weight and they tend to believe me - I never played in college or the NFL.) After finally figuring out how they work (why are there no instructions?) I snapped the 2" clamp into place and then added the 1" clamp above that. Still didn't trust them so I added zip ties around each clamp to keep them tight (after reading comments that they pop open sometimes - go ahead and get the heavy duty zip ties - only $0.11 each at HomeDepot and $0.06 on Amazon). And Voila! They work great - it's been a little over a week and even with my weight I hear no noise from them, the chair still spins around like it always has - this saved my comfortable gaming chair. Obviously the chair cannot be height adjusted now, but in the little over 2 years I've had it, the only times I have adjusted this chair is when it started sinking down recently and I had to raise it back up, so it's not a feature I miss. I would highly recommend this product. UPDATE: After 8 months (it is now August 2025) of using it about 12 hours each day, my chair suddenly got uncomfortable - it wouldn't stay flat and would lean in all directions if I leaned that way. I turned it over and sure enough the plastic on the "Chair Hero" was worn down on the top piece (the 1" one). I took that piece off and am only using the 2" piece now and it is comfortable again. I am going to buy this again to replace these pieces because less than $15 repair is still better than $350 for a new chair and this chair is still comfortable. The only thing I will change after looking at the wear: I will put 2 zip ties on each piece, one at the top and one at the bottom to help keep it from twisting when I turn the chair around (with all my weight on it).

I'm getting sick of every office chair that I buy only lasting a little while before it makes me feel like I'm setting on the floor. These simple, easy to install spacers are the perfect answer to consistently buying new chairs. I highly recommend these spacers. Definitely worth the money. I've fixed 3 chairs and will be buying more of them.

They worked perfectly my office chair doesn’t sink as soon as I sit anymore! Definitely recommend if you want to stop having neck and shoulder pain because your chair falls into the ground

While they look quite inconsequential right out of the box, once fitted they really do seem to be working very well with no more sinking feeling. To other buyers, measure up to see what combination of the provided sizes gives the least amount of exposed pillar not enclosed and the smallest residual "sink". The units are a tight fit on our chair and needed a little help from an "F" clamp to snap together.
