Do you need Teflon tape?

Teflon tape is for metal pipe to prevent it from rusting together. It won't hurt anything to use it on other threads but it won't do anything. Teflon tape is a lubricant not a sealant.

Will this work on tubing that is .600 ID?

I used it with 1/2” pex tubing only. Not sure if that helps you or not

are they rated for potable water?

Are use mine for pumping out of a river for the lawn I’m sure you can use portable water as well not sure if that answers your question or not it’s all plastic and very sturdy.

How do I remove a broken valve from the tubing?

You need to cut the tubing. If cutting the tubing means that it is now too short, you must get a coupling and more tubing.
