If We Were Perfect (If Love, 4)

Olivia and Sammy are ex lovers that are forced to live together for the summer and like any forced proximity situations they take advantage. This second chance romance has work and family cause one distraction after another, but the happily ever after is on the horizon. Great chemistry between the characters and unlike other Huang work the female is the leading character and Olivia Tang is the boss! Great descriptions of SF and the financial world Olivia works in, you really feel the pressure and the sexism of the workplace. Book has a bit of erotica in it and liked that the author didn't feel that the family needed to reconcile. Great visits from If Love Series folks as this novel serves as the series finale and it wraps up nicely. Love Crumble & Bake nod in the Twisted Series. After reading ten Huang's novels in an order (based on personal preference, plot, characters etc) felt like this was the novel that was the impetus to go bigger ! Congrats, great book!

I just finished If We Were Perfect, and wow, this steamy second chance/roommate romance really pulled me in. It's book four of the If Love series, but honestly, you can dive right in – it works perfectly as a standalone. The story kicks off when a flooded apartment forces our heroine to shack up with her ex-boyfriend in San Francisco. Talk about close quarters and unresolved feelings! Living under the same roof definitely stirred things up, making for a truly engaging read. I absolutely adored both main characters; they felt so real, with their flaws and strengths, making it easy to root for them to find their way back to each other. The plot kept me hooked from start to finish, beautifully exploring their past and present. While perhaps not the spiciest book in the series, the moments that were there certainly built the romantic tension. Seeing characters from previous books pop up was a lovely bonus. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed If We Were Perfect and am already eager to see what this author writes next!

I couldn't wait to hear Olivia and Sammy's story, and it did not disappoint, I loved it! Their backstory, the undeniable chemistry, their journey back to each other, my heart was aching and so full at the end of this book! They both stood I'm the way of their happiness by allowing their fears and outside influences to keep them apart. Liv's mother is absolutely ridiculous, Sammy's mother is normal besides the fact she is obsessed with trying to marry off her youngest boy. The spice between Liv and Sammy when they reunite was fire! Thankfully, Liv's apartment flooded and caused her to move in with Sammy... where she belonged! LOVE, LOVE, LOVED their story! The whole scene at the end with their friends, the entire crew, had me geeking out and smiling nonstop!

If We Were Perfect by Ana Huang is the fourth and final book in the If Love series. This can be read as a standalone book. Sammy and Olivia have had a complicated relationship for years, but that undeniable chemistry they’ve always had is still sizzling hot. After running into one another while out at dinner, Olivia finds herself calling Sammy to come help when the apartment she rented for the summer is flooded that same night. Will he answer her plea for help or should he run the other way? I think including the aspect of having family meddling in both their lives, although different aspects, helps both Sammy and Olivia realize they must finally stand up for themselves, even when it is against family or in the workplace setting. I love seeing the character development throughout this book and even in comparison to their Shanghai days. Another part that I absolutely loved was that Olivia was part of an erotica book club and I love how finding these female friendships was woven into the story as well. And let’s just say some of the steamy moments between Sammy and Olivia definitely benefited from those books she loves to read

The novel has really good storyline. It beautifully portrays second chance and forbidden love between the characters.
