Works great and will use the charcoal, after it has finished its work, in my compost to make biological compost and have it serve on for years to come. Only waste will be the package it came in and that is also being sent to the recycler! Wonderful.

There was more than enough charcoal to replace the filter on my Idoo composter. I rinsed the filter cartridge with water until it ran clear. Many reviews stated that doing this replacement was very messy. I didn't encounter any mess at all. I dumped the old charcoal into a zip lock bag and then carefully poured the new charcoal into the canister which was in the sink. A little bit of charcoal dust escaped but didn't make it out of the sink. You just need to make the transfer carefully and slow.

My composter needed a new filter and they were so expensive. I was happy to find this as a valuable alternative. They work fine but they’re messy so make sure you wear gloves and work on a covered table as you put them into your filter case a much better alternative to the expensive replacement. The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars is because of how messy they are.

I was starting to smell the waste in my composter, and when I replaced the old charcoal with this stuff the smell went away right away. There's enough in the bag for 2 replacements, and it was very easy to replace the old stuff.
