Immediately after installing the protection, the drone fell very hard, so that dents are visible on the protection. if it weren't for the protection, I think the camera would be faulty. 5 stars

I crashed the drone with the bumper installed and now because the screws are not okay for the reason that the screw provided is very bad Dji woudnt cover my drone with the dji refresh

I really like StartRC products, quality is always outstanding and have one for my NEO also but lost a star as I think it’s a little too wide plus missing the option for different colours but otherwise I’d highly recommend.

This gimbal protector is made from aluminium, and is thus lightweight whilst also being fairly strong and rigid. Installation is simple enough; just unscrew the two torx screws on the front with the supplied screw-driver, and fit with the longer supplied screws (there's four in total, so two spare). I do note comments from other reviews warning about the lack of quality of the driver and the potential to strip the screw-heads; I mitigated this by ensuring I was applying enough pressure for it to drive the screws rather than skip and strip. I got away with it but I'll be honest, it was quite worrying. One thing I did find annoying slightly is that the driver isn't magnetised, which made it a little awkward when the screws were dropped - they're tiny and easy to lose, and magnetising the tip is a small quality-of-life improvement that would make installation so much easier. Also, I'd really have liked for them to explore a clip-on protector that fits in a similar way to the supplied gimbal guard - no need to screw anything in, and hopefully if they're cheap enough, they can be replaced as readily as props are. The protector fits very well, and has foam pads for the areas where it makes contact with the drone. It provides protection mainly for the top, and a little to the front of the gimbal, but not a whole lot. If you hit something flat, you should be OK, but if you hit something with a small bit of protrusion, this isn't going to do much. There's also a "weak spot" in the lower front, where something could easily hit the gimbal from that angle, but given that when you're flying forward the drone should be tilted forward (which is how you move forward), this threat is minimised, but not completely eliminated as you could accidentally descend onto something. The gimbal comes nicely packaged in a foam block, so it won't be damaged when it reaches you. The screws are in a plastic pouch, as is the driver which is also embedded within the block. I think for £18, it's pricey. I think £12 would have been better given what you actually get (I don't subscribe to the theory of the price reflects the value of the item you're protecting, rather than the quality of the item itself).

The gimbal guard seems really good and fits perfectly. Given the flying this type of drone leaves you prone to crashes just having something that gives a little extra protection is ideal. Very happy with it and I recommend it

Screws on very tightly thanks to the foam pads (the back flat section going over the top has a pad as well). This ensures it wont rattle or induce vibrations when it bumps into something. Very good and the pics didnt show that. So you basically have an aluminum bumper + mini shock absorber, and its rock solid once tightened.

Passend und einfache Montage

Je commence le drone FPV depuis quelques semaines seulement, et mon Avata 2 est équipé de ce bumper depuis le début. Et au premier jour j'ai planté l'Avata 2 en faisant une remonté excessivement rapide vers l'avant et le haut, un bon gros choc frontal. Après avoir récupéré le drone, je constate des traces sur le bumper en alu, et je sait que j'aurais inévitablement touché l'optique du drone si je ne l'avais pas eu. Comme j'ai pu observer, sur le drone d'un proche, les dégats que fait un choc frontal entre la nacelle de l'optique et un obstacle, je sait que j'aurais du faire sans aucun doute un retour à DJI pour réparation ou a minima, reconnexion de la nappe de la nacelle. Aussi, cet article est simplement indispensable !

Tanto los tornillos como el destornillador son de mala calidad. No pude atornillarlos completamente porque se desintegró la cabeza y ahora no puedo sacarlos…
