Haven’t encountered that problem. There’s no “locking” mechanism I’m aware of, even at the lowest setting. Maybe there’s some cooking residue build-up in the central spinning mechanism that needs to be cleaned out. Sorry I can’t be more helpful **Q: Can i put it on the stock rack\grate to make it evene higher?** A: The GrillUp is made to replace the current rack that is on your grill, the spinning motion then controls the height of the rack once installed **Q: Has anybody used this on weber grill with a lid holder? the lid holder bolts on the inside get in the way of the grillup rotating to its lower height.** A: No problem making a minor adjustment to lessen the amount that the lid holder threaded rod ends extend into the kettle. I got two new 1/4 x 20 regular thickness nuts and eight 1/4 flat washers and spent 3 minutes and less than 4 dollars to make the GrillUp go from max high to max low with no issues. Place 3 of the washers on the outside of the kettle using them as shims and push the threaded end into the kettle fastening the inside with a washer and nut. Problem solved. Grill is nicely made and replaces the rusting grill that came with my kettle. I would advise cleaning the sticky grease off the center shaft before oiling with cooking oil. Also the grate should be cleaned before using, since mine had some white residue left for welding or brazing the grill. **Q: What’s the weight capacity?** A: Turns easily with a balanced load of 11 lbs (5 kg) Turns easily with an offset (unbalanced) load of 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great height-adjustable grill grate! *by N***K on June 5, 2019* Long time ago I had an old Sunbeam square grill that had an adjustable height charcoal tray. You can lower the charcoal tray when the charcoal is very hot and raise the tray up when you need more heat. What a great idea! I then bought a Weber 22 1/2-Inch Performer Grill few years ago and always wondered why Weber did not have this feature of adjusting the height of the charcoal grate. I figured a Charcoal grate works better than a charcoal tray but it is harder to adjust as far as height (compared to a closed-bottom charcoal tray)...Well , this GrillUp grate is the solution to this problem, by simply turning it (with the BBQ tongs) clockwise/counter-clockwise to make it go up or down while you are BBQing... One trick is to adjust it high enough to be flush with the edge of the grill to put those large skewers with wooden handles and still be able to close the lid. You can also do this same trick to use a BBQ spatula going from the edges which you can never do with the Weber original grate.... A very well thought off and very well built(heavy duty) product! This is the best thing you can get for your Grill... Also, Lock and Lube supports this product very well and are top-notch!One caveat, is that on the Weber 22.5 performer which has the lid holder on the sides, the bolts that are used to mount the holder protrude about a quarter inch and there are 2 bolts. The bolts tend to make the GrillUp a bit harder to go to its lowest height setting as it will tend to touch these 2 bolts. One workaround I haven't tried yet, is to remove the lid holder bolts and use the screw head (smaller than the bolt) on the inside of the grill and the bolts on the outside. I haven't tried this workaround yet but I think it will work but will require some tinkering... A regular 22inch grill (without a lid holder) will not have this issue...Update to original review: Weber lid holder has top 2 screws as part of the holder, not seperate physical screws like i originally thought... So this workaround is not going to fix this issue. I will check with GrillUp tosee if they have any ideas and update later...Again, in conclusion, this is the best thing you can get for your Grill! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Say goodbye to burned foods on your weber. *by K***S on February 4, 2020* If you only own one weber accessory, this needs to be it. It will give you precise temperature control and will allow you to prevent burning and scorching.Four stars and not five because it's a little flimsy and the the bars on the grate are thinner than i expected.
