Nevertheless I placed an order and I got a surprise from Excel Entertainment. I got a free DVD of Jude Law's Dom Hemingway. Great service folks. You guys supplemented this Film's greatest flaw. GENUINELY IMPRESSED. Keep up the good work Excel.

The movie promised much during the initial phase, but ...
The movie promised much during the initial phase, but as it progressed lost the plot. Video and Audio are top class and so is the cinematography.

Underrated, Terrifying & Poetic
Blu ray Audio 5/5 Blu ray Video 4.7/5 Amazing Delivery and I also received a free dvd gift! Lots of Special Features included. The movie is amazingly complex and truly terrifying. It has a lot of metaphors-symbolisms and it is poetic and beautiful. (Lots of Gore) NOT MEANT FOR THE WEAK-HEARTED.

I think Prometheus is better than Covenant
Alien series is always one of my favorites. I think Prometheus is better than Covenant. Even then this movie is enjoyable with many new concepts as compared to other alien movies.

Alien: Covenant – Stunning Visuals but Inconsistent Plot!
Stunning visuals, the gripping atmosphere, and how it brought back the horror feel from the original Alien series. The mix of sci-fi horror and deeper themes about creation and evolution caught the interest of me. Michael Fassbender’s performance as both David and Walter was also highly appreciated. But there were some negatives too. I felt the plot was inconsistent and the characters weren’t developed well. The movie tried to include too many things, leaving some parts incomplete. I felt it didn’t match up to the earlier films.

Much better than I was expecting
Not for the first time I’m baffled by the one star reviews awarded by Amazon customers. I can only assume that they feel personally cheated or let down by Covenant, because there is nothing about this film that deserves such a harsh reaction. Yes it is flawed, but it’s still entertaining with great design and effects and features an impressive performance (or performances) from Michael Fassbender as androids Walter and David. After the lukewarm response to Prometheus, which disappointed fans by not being sufficiently Alien-esque, Ridley Scott clearly decided to bridge the gap but ended up creating something of a hybrid: Covenant still carries forwards themes established in Prometheus but brings back facehuggers, the xenomorph and ratchets up the blood splattering. This appears not to have pleased either camp in the Alien franchise fanbase as (a) it leaves many questions raised in Prometheus unanswered and (b) the philosophising gets in the way of the pure carnage some fans want. Personally I quite like the fact that Scott is trying to create depth and interest in a franchise that had descended into bog standard sci-fi horror mayhem, though like many others I do find the number of loose ends rather frustrating. Not only does Covenant not answer the questions raised in Prometheus, it asks more questions which are then not themselves resolved. These mainly revolve around the motives of David: for example why (spoiler alert!) did he wipe out the Engineers? Is he just deranged, or is there some twisted logic behind his actions? And if David created the facehugger eggs, how did they end up on a derelict juggernaut that had clearly been rotting on LV-426 for several years when the Nostromo crew found it? Others critics have talked about the stupidity of the Covenant’s crew and while I can understand this complaint it’s worth pointing out that the whole franchise started with an intelligent man sticking his face into an alien egg which had just opened. I don’t recall anyone complaining about the implausibility of Kane’s actions (or for the matter Ripley and Parker’s when they send Brett off alone to look for the cat), probably because so many place the first movie on a lofty pedestal where it is immune from criticism, but really the Covenant crew aren’t really that much more imprudent than the folks aboard the Nostromo. Let’s not forget that they don’t know anything about Engineers, facehuggers, xenomorphs or neomorphs and don’t know that David has blown a few spark plugs. While Fassbender is brilliant, the rest of the cast have more of a struggle on their hands with their one-dimensional characters. Katherine Waterston is fine as the female lead but she’s no Ripley and the scene with her swinging around below the lander while battling the xenomorph looks like something out a Marvel movie. Billy Crudup makes an impression as the man of faith who is forced to take command, though this angle is not explored deeply enough, and the rest of the cast is basically there to provide fodder for the monsters. I was actually surprised that there were not more howls of protest at how this movie treated Elizabeth Shaw, the heroine of Prometheus – it’s (another spoiler alert) reminiscent of how Hicks and Newt were written out of the equation in Alien 3 and is very disappointing. And another bizarre issue with the cast is the fleeting appearance of James Franco. One can only assume that when he signed on the part of Captain Branson was more substantial and it ended up being reduced in rewrites. The film looks and sounds great on blu ray, though the extras are a bit underwhelming. There are a few short films featuring members of the Covenant crew which are hit-and-miss. 'The Last Supper’, where the crew enjoy a meal together before going into hypersleep, is good (and features not only an amusing reference to the first Alien movie but also provides Franco with more dialogue that he has in the film itself), as is ‘The Crossing’ which shows what happened when David and Shaw reached the Engineers’ home world, but 'Phobos', which shows crew members undergoing a harrowing psychological examination, is overlong. Also here is an absurdly exhaustive library of David’s artwork; while this is interesting to a point, having to click on the categories one at a time is laborious and it would have been better if the images had been split into fewer separate galleries. There are also some deleted and extended scenes which not only feature yet more James Franco, but also include further dialogue between David and Weyland in the prologue in which the former explains the story behind Wagner’s 'Entry of the Gods into Valhalla' where he describes men as 'cruel' and their creators as ‘false gods’. Could this form the basis for his later actions? The meat of the bonus features is a decent ‘making of’ documentary bizarrely titled ‘Ridley Scott - Master Class’. It covers all the bases including writing, casting, design and effects, though does so in a somewhat superficial way. Finally there is a commentary, a gallery of concept art and a couple of trailers. I really enjoyed Covenant, though perhaps the fact that my expectations had been lowered by reading the negative reviews was a factor, and I’d firmly place it in third place behind the first two movies in the franchise. I for one hope that Scott does get to make more Alien movies, if for no other reason than to tie up all the loose ends he’s created. I’d also be more than happy to spend more time in the company of that delightfully bonkers android.
