Quality Journal That Feels Great to Write In
The Dingbats Wildlife A5 journal is one of the nicest notebooks I’ve used. The vegan leather cover feels soft but durable, and the stitching gives it a classy, well-made look. The paper quality is top-notch — smooth, thick, and works great with both pens and pencils without bleeding through. I like the little touches too — the pocket in the back, the elastic closure, and the ribbon bookmark. It’s the perfect size for travel or daily notes. Just a solid, good-looking journal that makes you actually want to write things down.

Perfect Journal
I love this notebook! The faux leather cover feels soft and high-quality, and the paper is smooth — great for my fountain pen with no bleed-through. It lays flat, has a handy pen holder and pocket, and looks beautiful on my desk. I also appreciate that it’s eco-friendly and vegan.

Good quality. My fourth purchase.
This is my fourth purchase of the same notebook in a different color. I have the yellow, blue and the red as well. I use these as my planner for the year because they are a good size for backpacks, lots of pages for my calendars, excellent for dot journaling, and space for meeting notes. I use repositionable Avery divider tabs for easy access to different sections. Love the quality—sturdy and paper is thick. No bleeding. The faux leather has a great feel. Soft but not overly spongy. Good leather like quality.

WIsh it had page numbers but that's all I can complain about.. .
When I bought this I did not know about the #bujo style of planning or tasking. So page numbers were not important to me when I bought this... easy fix! can just write them in. AND enjoy a clean page if I want to tear out one for drawing or whathaveyous. Book is sturdy and stylish. The paper is top quality, thin but strong. I have pictures showing a pen test (pigma microns and brushes, and tombows). I have not experienced any bleed throughs so far and have been fairly generous in overlapping strokes sometimes. The paper is thin though so you can see from the other side where dark ink is applied.. I thought that might become an issue but it hasn't. I barely notice it. I do not use ball point pen in this book. Dingbat offers different page styles: lined, plain, dotted, etc. I have dotted. I knew I was going to be planning but also wanted to have more freedom. The dots have been nice to organize some beautiful structured layouts. But then are hardly noticeable when I get to drawing. Not trying to create professional pieces here, just drawing for enjoyment. There is a pocket in the back that has come in handy. I had stickers leftover from a recent roadtrip that I haven't found a home for, yet, so I planted them in the pocket for safe keeping. I noticed dingbat provided a customer service insert in the pocket while making this review that provides my dingbats reference number and an email to contact. That's nice! (I hid my reference number in case it is unique, but it may just refer to the type of dingbat I bought). Anyway, great book! Also, has some neat family business history.

It has that WOW factor
I’m thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship and beauty of this journal. Very nice tactile experience from the moment you unwrap it. The cover is textured linen-like, the pages are smooth and a perfect weight for most pens, in a light cream color which is easy on the eyes. I hope for more colors and design.

Best Dot Grid for Bullet Journals. Watch for faulty pen loops.
After finishing up with my latest run with a Leuchtturm, I decided to branch out and try Dingbats*. Their wildlife collection appealed to me except for the micro-perforated pages. It gave me flashbacks to an earlier Lenome. Then I saw they had a new "Earth" collection in three colors (orange/blue/green). I ordered the orange and waited anxiously to start out the new year with it. The book is slightly larger than a standard A5 journal, so it probably won't fit with any type of sleeve or case one might have. But it has a nice textured hardcover with a small design on it. The elastic band is wider and nicer than similar notebooks. A small back pocket is in the back of the book. Pages are a smooth, 100 gsm, acid free, cream color, numbered, dot grid style. It takes wonderfully to my fountain pens and markers. Ghosting is minimal unless you're really heavy inks. I haven't had a bleed yet. One interesting feature is there 12 page edge markers sections you can ink up to help identify sections of the book. Unfortunately the pen loop fell off within a few hours of use. Not a big deal for me as I had some adhesive loops I had used for previous books. However it did seem like a poor design and choice for adhesive. I decided to reach out to Dingbats* customer service line shortly after Christmas and let them know they may want to rethink it. Within 24 hours I had a response from one of the co-founders. He apologized for the pen loop and advised that they had earlier runs of these books with defective adhesive. They offered to send me a new book from one of the later batches free of charge. It took a little persistence via email communication, but within a month I received my new book. Overall it's a great notebook and one that I will continue to use for the foreseeable future. But if you decide to order through Amazon, be wary that you may receive one with a defective pen loop.

Best Customer Service I've Ever Encountered
First and foremost, I want to say that Mo and the people at Dingbats went WAY WAY WAY above and beyond to resolve the problems I encountered with my order. They stand by their product and go out of their way to make sure you're happy with your purchase. I've never had such a positive experience as a retail customer in my entire life. I'm still shocked by their customer service. Paper: The paper is 100gsm, coated and cream colored. It is SO silky smooth to write on. Every pen glides like a dream. As expected, you have to make sure you give the ink time to dry before you close the book or move on to the next page but it's a small price to pay for such a luxurious writing experience. The dots are of medium visibility with the standard 5mm spacing. I purchased the Wildlife line because every page is perforated. I had issues with the first notebook I received but once I had an undamaged notebook in my hands, I was so impressed with the perforations. The pages won't fall out with regular use or even a mild tug. However, if you take care not to just YANK the page out, it will tear away neatly. Ghosting is minimal; about on par for what I would expect with 100gsm paper. Nothing bled through, not even fountain pen ink. Design and Construction: The Wildlife notebooks are not numbered and do not have an index page (these are pluses for me.) They DO have a cover page where you can write your name and information as well as a back pocket. One ribbon bookmark is built in, as is a pen loop. The pen loop is sturdy and I'm not worried about losing any pens. Additionally, the elastic included to keep the notebook closed is also sturdy - nice and tight without being inflexible. The journal lies very very flat. The cover is a wonderfully pebbly faux leather. I LOVE the cute paw print paper on the inside covers. The print is dependent on what animal you get (bear paws / elephant feet / duck feet.) It's such a fun touch. As long as you're expecting to get what you see in the description, you'll get it. There are no what-ifs or cons here. You get what they advertise and what they advertise is a lovely notebook that will get lots of use. Caveats: The first notebook I received had an issue with the binding, which came apart when I tried to use the perforations to take out a page. It was disappointing, and I contacted Dingbats hoping for a resolution. They sent out a replacement VERY promptly. The Amazon warehouse seems to have had issues handling the replacement and it arrived with quite a few dings and dents. I did NOT expect Dingbats to be responsible for this as it was 100% not their fault. They did so anyway. I can't rave enough about how much they cared that I was happy with my notebook.

Surprised! Very high quality
Quality, fit and finish of this notebook much higher than I expected. Other reviewers said this which tipped the scale for me purchasing this and it did not disappoint. Pockets in the back, a fine paper lined inner cover, nice spine. Elastic very handy and a pen carrier. Cover has feel of leather. Paper nice and thick so no bleed through. Great value for money!
