I mounted mine on a 2002 GMC Sierra. The unit mounts in the 'dead' space above the rear view mirror. I've had mine for several years, very happy. **Q: Will this work on Mazda Miata convertible and does anything extra have to be ordered with it for installation** A: Yes. I used this with a ScanGauge to install it in my 2012 SE PRHT Miata and it works very well. I routed the cable up the A pillar and across the header to the mount as installed on the rear view mirror. I'm in the process of installing on my 2013 Club edition Miata and the install is basically the same. Note that it does NOT work on 1995 and older Miatas as they didn't have an OBDII port for the ScanGauge to plug into. The ODB II port was added in 1996 to the Miata. Routing the cable on 1990-2005 Miatas will be similar - up the A pillar and across the header. Some minor disassembly of the interior will be necessary for all models to route the cable where it's hidden.
