Unscented, yes, but too binding at top for us older folks. I gave my husband's to a younger neighbor. He loves them.

Would these socks fit a woman (shoe size 8 1/2)?

Yes! I specifically bought these because I found Womens sock to not be big or wide enough. I’m a happy camper and being bamboo is an added bonus. Bought them in black and the navy! Sign me:~a satisfied female customer.

How tight do they fit - my calves are a little larger than average and I do not like socks that leave an indent when I remove them end of day?

I found that they fit well. I wouldn't say that they are too loose or constricting. The fabric is unique in that way. Be warned about the odor of these socks. It takes dozens of washings with vinegar to get rid of the intense perfuming.
