Original Album Classics Moments /Slow Dancer/Silk Degrees/Middle Man /Down Two Then Left

These albums by Boz Scaggs are outstanding and represent his body of work in pop-rock.

Five great albums in cardbord mini-lp sleeves. Any of the "Orignal Album Classics" packages is a great way to build a CD collection (for those of us who still get their music on CD). They're an amazing bargain and a real shelf space saver compared to plastic CD cases.

This is an excellent price for the CDs of the five LPs that form the heart of the career of Boz Scaggs. At the center of this collection is Boz Scaggs's extraordinary masterpiece "Silk Degrees." If you haven't given a listen to "Silk Degrees" in a few decades, please note that the album is even better than you remember. Every song (well, except maybe for the ragtime number "Jump Street") is a masterpiece. Yes, at this point, we've heard "Lido Shuffle" enough, but it's been way too long since we've heard enough of the jazzy R&B "Lowdown," or "What Can I Say." And Boz's version of "We're All Alone" is so superior to the Rita Coolidge Top 40 hit version that you won't even think it's the same song. The other four discs are less consistently genius. "Down Two Then Left," the follow up to "Silk Degrees," only has two quality songs that are at the same level as the preceding LP: "Hard Times" and "Hollywood." The last LP from the Golden Age of Boz, "Middle Man," is a bit disco-fied, but "Breakdown Dead Ahead" is disco at this best. "Middle Man" also featured Boz's awesome tribute to Joe Willy Namath "Jo-Jo," with that great line of "what do you think about gentlemen wearing mink?" There are some problems as the fidelity of the recordings of the first two LPs in the series -- "Moments" and "Slow Dancer" -- is not that great. The CDs barely sound better than something recorded directly off the radio. But these are quibbles. If you do not already own these discs in CD format, then they very much are worth getting in this bargain-priced five CD collection.

First introduced to Boz by my best friend when MOMENTS just came outt. This is a great CD deal. Case cracked. I wish there were better Cheap mailing enevelopes.

I have known Boz SCAGGS and his band during the summer in the 1975's when i visited my sister living in Providence (Rhode Island). I spend three months and i also went to Quebec and Montreal. The Boz SCAGGS's music is so cool like the Steve Miller Band 's music. When i got home in France, i continue to buy Boz SCAGGS 's albums ' 33 tours or LP. Some time ago, i digitize my vyniles LP but the sound was not very clear. A friend of mine said me i could find some old LP on Amazon site remasterized. I am very glad to hear the very sound of teenager age. The best album is certainly 'Moments' but the others are also very good and i didn't stop hearing Good Music ....

His Come on Home album is great stuff. It's a darn shame he didn't trust his talent more and the need for a huge production less. Less is almost always more. Too bad.

Yes it is a sort of middle retrospective of his work, but it is a fabulous set of albums that any fan of the inimitable Mr Scaggs, or curious newbie will surely appreciate. There are the usual grumps about the lack of splashy information, but there is always Wikipedia for that. There is enough music here to get you from Louisiana to San Francisco and Slim's (the club he owns). Go ahead hit the add to cart button, you know you want to!

Great value 5 disc package, as previously reported the labels on 2 of the discs are wrong and the other way round title wise but does not affect playback at all for my CD Player, the music is fab and stands the test of time, musicianship is top notch, song writing is impressive, and Boz's distinctive vocals are perfect, amazing package.

Was soll ich sagen, ich liebe diese 5er-Boxen, mit denen man seine Sammlung erweitern kann. Wer nur die Greatest Hits von Boz Scaggs will, braucht die Box natürlich nicht, obwohl auch die Hits wie Lowdown, Jojo oder Lido Shuffle auf den einzelnen CD‘s enthalten sind. Wer einen tollen Musiker entdecken will, sollte jedoch zugreifen, denn die Greatest Hits kostet wahrscheinlich mehr als die 5 originalen Einzel-CD‘s.

Ce coffret de 5 CD est tout simplement un régal. A chaque écoute nos oreilles captent des sons, des subtilités nouvelles. Enregistré sur clé USB pour nos trajets routiers, de quoi bien commencé une journée fun.

Love this series. Mastering varies and album info is nonexistent but the classic music for the price is unbeatable.
