Bedtime Peekaboo!: Touch-and-Feel and Lift-the-Flap

My son loves this book! We read it every night before bed. The touch and feel in this book is not super great, but that doesn't stop the both of us from enjoying this book together. He loves to lift the flaps and look at the pictures underneath and gets a kick out of me saying "Peekaboo!" each time he lifts the flap. The last page is cute, because instead of saying Peekaboo it says Shhhhhh so that we don't "wake up the sleeping toys." We definitely enjoy reading this together before bed each night.

Me and my daughter have an established routine for bed every night and this book is part of it! We love to feel the fluffy pig tummy and the doll soft hair. It's a favorite!

My 16 month old and near 4 year old fight over this book. They love the flaps and the touchies. Simple story... but it’s cute. Great for super little ones! Or jealous siblings :)

As is the case with ALL of the DK Publishing "Peekaboo" books we have purchased (which is about 12), they are adorable and incredibly high quality. My one year old daughter and two year old some are in love with these books. They have only managed to tear up 2 of them, but only after at least a year of very intense play. I have been THRILLED with them. I bought 4 for my friend's daughter as well.

This is a sturdy board book with large, glossy flaps and is bigger than the average-sized board book. The simple text takes you through the bedtime routine, with photographs of children from different ethnic groups and gender on the left-hand page, and peek-a-boo flaps on right. I like that the objects depicted in the pictures on the left corresponds with the flap on the right, relating to the text, eg. the 1st picture shows a child playing with a wooden clock and the text asks, Where's the long-eared rabbit? Is he hiding behind the clock? And the flap on the right is the same clock shown on the left, but it's enlarged, so it becomes the flap itself and underneath it says, Peekaboo! It's 7 o'clock, time for bed, and there's a long-eared rabbit toy with a satin bow to "touch and feel". Another page shows a child sitting on a cushion and the text asks, Where's the cuddly pig? Is she hiding behind the cushion? And the flap is that same cushion. My only qualm about the book is that out of the total 5 flaps, only 3 actually have the "touch and feel" elements, i.e., the satin bow on the rabbit, the braided fringe on the doll, and the fur on the cuddly pig's stomach. That's it. The striped tiger just have shiny eyes and the last page with all four toys in bed has shiny stars littering the page, nothing at all to feel. It's disappointing because, after a couple of reads, our daughter at 14 months, knows this is a tactile book, and her hand automatically goes to the "touch and feel" areas on the page when she lifts the flaps, but whenever she lifts the striped tiger flap, or gets to the end, there's nothing there for her to feel, and you see her little fingers searching the page in vain. Makes me wish DK had put in that extra effort to make all the pages tactile; even just using the same materials for all toys at the end would have been great. That being said, it's still an adorable bedtime book that has fast become a favorite. Our daughter enjoys it (as do I) and smiles whenever she lifts the flaps and DOES feel something. So for that, I give it 4 stars.

My 10 mo. old granddaughter loves this book! It is an “every night” story before she goes to bed. It seems to “signal” her & calms her each night! I highly recommend! It is sturdy, colorful, and delivers a loving good night message!

These are the best books out there for babies and young toddlers. They love the peekaboo concept and the consistency of hearing it over and over again on each page. Lots of colors to see and textures to feel. Also introduces counting and animal sounds. And the best part is that the flaps are sturdy cardboard like the rest of the book, so they can't be torn apart by little fingers!

This book takes your baby/toddler through the bedtime routin with its text: getting ready for bed, pick out a toy, read a book, etc. It has some really nice touch and feels (the dolls hair) and some dissappointing ones (tiny silvery stars). It ends with everyone asleep and a "SHHH" instead of a "peekaboo". My 9month old enjoys this at bedtime.

My son loves this book and has become a daily read for us.

I bought this as part of my daughters christmas present as she loves reading and being read to and I thought it might help get her into a bedtime routine. I must say that even though it is short my daughter absolutely adores it and after a few nights of reading it she now takes time during the day to sit and read it to herself, mimicking what I have read to her (even the last page when I lower my voice and say its bedtime) - it is very cute. She loves flipping the tabs open and the touch/feel section. My 1 year old son also gets quite excited when I read it at bedtime and laughs/giggles at each page (kinda defeating the purpose of a bedtime wind down book but it is still great). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone :)

Dieses hübsche kleine "Kuckuck"-Buch sieht sich mein Sohn (12 Monate) sehr gerne direkt vor dem schlafen gehen an. Alle Spielzeuge winken ihm zur guten Nacht und schlafen dann schon vor ihm ein, da weiß er, dass es auch Zeit für ihn ist. Wie bei den anderen Bücher dieser Reihe sind auf der linken Seite jeweils Bilder von Kleinkindern abgebildet. Die Spielzeuge sind wie immer hinter Klappen versteckt (Vorhang, Buch, Kissen, Decke, Uhr) und weisen jeweils eine fühlbare Besonderheit auf - sein Favorit, der gestreifte Tiger hat glitzernde Augen, das Schweinchen einen Kuschelbauch, etc. Die Kartonage des Buches ist in meinen Augen ziemlich stabil. Stabil genug jedenfalls für meinen Rabauken, der gerne auch mal die Klappen nach hinten umknickt. Bislang hält alles noch und sieht auch noch wirklich gut aus. Die Größe ist auch in Ordnung. Wenn das Buch vor ihm auf dem Boden liegt, kann er selbst blättern und die Klappen öffnen, beim zu Bett gehen, halte ich es und wir schauen gemeinsam.
