It is intended to be placed on a flat surface where it will not be routinely exposed to saturation. I imagine an ideal location would be just outside a shower/bath tub, a sauna/steam room, and similar places. I placed this product on my shower floor and used it as a shower mat. It does not function well in this application for two reasons: 1- My shower floor is concaved (as most all shower floors are) to allow the water to run to the drain in the center of the floor. This product is made from bamboo and as such, has no flexibility. For stability, I inserted washers in the locations where the foot pads did not make contact with the floor. If your shower floor just slopes in one direction, this would not be an issue, but... 2- When this product was exposed to repeated showers, the ends of each piece of bamboo began to absorb the water and became discolored. The last inch or so of each end became a dull gray. I did not dry off the product after each shower, so this is a possible way to prevent the discoloring. Review: Don't waste your money! - I see that Hankey says you can return it if not satisfied, but the desertcart return period ended Jan 31, so I tossed it! Kinda confusing. I ordered the mat in mid November and by mid March it had tiny nails sticking me in my feet and was falling apart....3 whole months! Pure junk. I have never had a bad experience with desertcart, but this was horrible. When I saw I could write a product review, I thought to warn other people. I wish I had taken a picture, but I didn't know I could add one, my bad! Also, the planks are not supported well and thus it "gives" when you stand on it.

Don't waste your money!
I see that Hankey says you can return it if not satisfied, but the Amazon return period ended Jan 31, so I tossed it! Kinda confusing. Very Disappointed- Mildewed despite airing out after use :( Don't waste your money.
Got this for our other shower, got Mildewy and musty GROSS after just a couple of weeks- despite being aired out in sunshine after use....... Not well coated at all, and Not a quality product- VERY Disappointed. Do NOT waste your money- this WILL get Mildew and be unsanitary as well as unsightly. :( POOR PRODUCT.

Looks great but Molded and started to fall apart after a few months.

Durable & ZEN atmosphere
When I took this out of the package and I stood on it, I immediately thought that it wouldn't last for more than a couple day because of how flexible it was on the bottom but I was wrong. It's been about 8 months and this thing has held strong and I have 2 roommates coming in and out of the shower at all times. If you don't want moldy floors and you don't have time to clean your bathroom floor too often, then this is a really good product. Just stick a thin towel underneath the platform and you're pretty much good to go.

Poorly made and designed.
If your shower stall has any kind of pitch the feet wonโt sit on the floor so it is unstable. Also the sealant is horrible in just 2 weeks there was mildew growing. Poorly made imo. Itโs place is in the trash bin.
