This is amazing, no hand strain at all for conditioning clay. <3 <3 <3

This is an amazing tool. Having moved and given up my ceramic pottery studio, I decided perhaps I should try to switch to polymer clay. The problem is that I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, making my hands very tender and stiff. Kneading polymer clay was out of the question. I was about to give up on sculpting altogether when I happened upon this amazing invention. I highly recommend this to anyone that finds conditioning clay to be painful. I just received mine today and tried it out immediately. What an awesome thing - popped the clay in and had it conditioned in a about a minute with no hand strain whatsoever. Coming from someone that finds it hard to pick up my phone first thing in the morning, that says a lot.If you're on the fence about this, order it now. I'm a believer.

Very useful

Very useful, especially with Art Pardo Translucent and other super-stiff clays. There are a couple of things to watch out for, though: --The rubber tips at each end of the lever slide off easily, causing the lever to fall out of the body. --Tiny flecks of metal? oil? from the mechanism fall onto the top of the stomper and then onto the surface of the clay, causing discoloration. I wipe the stomper clean between each turn of the lever. --The video makes the process look very quick. With, again, Art Pardo Translucent, I had to "stomp" at least 50 times before the clay was usable. Still easier than doing it by hand or with a pasta machine, but something to be aware of. Settle down with a movie if you have a lot of clay to condition....Those are small flaws. I'm very glad to have this tool, and I know I'll use it a lot.

Save your hands

Can't work without it. Works Great . I can enjoy making things with out ruining my hands to soften clay.

Improvements needed

Terrific concept with some improvements needed. You still will need your pasta machine but this is a nice addition to get things rolling. My issue is that whomever did the machining on this item did a terrible job and there were some badly corroded parts. The shaft collar was completely greasy and rusty and smelly. It kept depositing black metal chips into my clay because the inside of the machine was never finished or even cleaned before shipping. I did take it apart, cleaned it out as best I could, replaced the shaft collar (with one made of stainless steel) and the screws. It was very little expense (under 5.00) but one I shouldn't have had to deal with that in my opinion. I use a lot of white clay and it will still occasionally deposit a nice black chunk into my clay.

Already appreciate my NEVERknead!

I've noticed at age 67 that conditioning polymer clay with my favorite Atlas machine is more stressful on my hands than when I started working with polymer about ten years ago. Though I've only had the NEVERknead a short time, I've used it quite a bit already to pre-condition harder clays in my inventory, and then I can more easily run them through my Atlas. Some clayers tell me to just get a motor for my Atlas, but I find the noise very disruptive to my creative process. So I'm now considering my NEVERknead as both a pre-conditioning tool and a preventive device to save wear and tear on my hands, so I can continue to work in polymer for many more years.

Very happy with this product.

It worked well on all clays, even with very old ones. I did have to add a small amount of clay softner at first.
