Where does science end and the supernatural begin? That’s the mysterious – and dangerous – line explored by skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) when she teams up with priest-in-training David Acosta (Mike Colter) to explore the evil humanity is capable of. Together, they dive into the Catholic Church’s files of occult phenomena to bring them to rational conclusions…or attempt to. Angel sightings, demonic possessions, prophecies and conspiracies will test their faiths and push them to their limits as they learn that the world’s darkness may run deeper than they ever thought possible. Experience the investigation across 13 thrilling episodes of EVIL Season One in this 3-disc collection. Review: Terrific series but wish these were pressed and not burned Blu-rays - “Evil” is at its end. No, not evil in general but “Evil” the TV series. I watched this on Paramount + when it aired but, given streaming channels occasional goofy decisions to remove certain series, I decided to purchase this. “Evil” follows a trio of paranormal researchers that sounds like the beginning of a joke-a priest, a psychologist and an engineer walk into a haunted building….the trio Dr. Kristin Bouchard, David Acosta (a priest waiting to be ordained) and tech savvy Ben Shakir work for the Catholic Church to examine paranormal activity from possessions to a serial killer who claims he was possessed to solve these mysteries. They have a nemesis named Leland who is in league with, yep, Satan. He’s quite a fellow. “Evil” comes from Robert and Michelle King who created “The Good Wife”. The series features writing is witty, creative and takes a cliched premise and twists it into a new shape. The series last four seasons. It’s an excellent show. The Blu-ray, like the DVD, features deleted scenes as the special feature along with two featurettes one on the genesis of the series and the other asks if evil really exists(of course it does). Picture quality is better than the streaming version and audio sounds quite nice with a strong 5.1 mix. So, is “Evil” worth spending time with? Absolutely. Review: The beginning of Evil - watch it! - Start from the beginning of this excellent show as they poke around with our ideas of good & evil. Fabulous cast. It will suck you in from the start!

A wonderful show
Well written. Well acted. Well directed. The main characters are engaging and interesting. The overarching story line is fascinating, and fits well with the individual episodes. The villains are truly nasty, yet still fascinating, and the writers don't try to make them anything other than villainous. The only downside that I see is that one cannot buy the second and third seasons on DVD, you have to sign up for the streaming service to see them (which my family did, because we like the show so much).

A Religious X-Files
This my new favorite TV series. It is both funny and scary. It has an X-Files feel to it with a team of 3 (1 believer, 2 skeptics) investigating strange events to see if they are worthy of the Vatican and Exorcism. Considering the fact that exorcisms are on the rise it is timely. The characters are far from one dimensional. David, the priest in training as a history - good and bad. Kristen is married with 4 kids and has a history of risk taking. Ben, the IT guy, is grounded. All three have perfect chemistry in the show. Kristen's 4 daughters make a wonderful part of the show. You see the world through their eyes whether it is an addictive song, or a video game. The dialogue in the show is smart and very funny. It uses irony, metaphor and requires having more than basic knowledge to get some of the references. The biggest surprise to me was the scares. The X-Files had some truly scary episodes but they were few and far between. Evil makes your skin crawl. It plays on your deepest fears whether they be children, hospitals, or hell. Leland has wonderful lines throughout. It has to be fun to eat the scenery like that as an actor. Considering the cliffhanger ending, Season 2 should be just as good and poignant.

Scary
Nice pace. Good acting. No nudity. A bad guy you can really hate. Some gore. Exorcisms. Scary.

Quality Sealed Product
Series is exceptional (despite some minor issues with the writers' efforts to insert agenda) especially for network TV. So 5 stars there. The rating is also for the packaging from the company (Not Amazon- they always package poorly), CBS. The discs themselves are in a tight professionally sealed wrapper to start. These sets are not cheap unfortunately, but they are worth it. You buy some mass produced discs on Amazon and the wrapping is warped the picture sleeve is warped with ripples etc. Just pure garbage. At least Season One, Two and Three of Evil came in quality seals. So the set is in nice shape. Bring on Season 4!

Pleasantly surprised!
Very satisfied! Quality of DVD was absolutely perfect. I wasn’t expecting the image quality would be this sharp and clear (I’m usually watching BluRays). So this was a pleasant surprise. So I would definitely recommend the DVD version of “EVIL” season one.

Great characters storyline and production values, with an excellent presentation on blu-ray. If you like Grimm (USA tv series), Dark (German tv series), then this should work for you
