Tombo P-13E Tombow Chromatic Tuning Whistle (Pitch Pipe) E Scale

I play in a band, and this is not a bad pitch pipe. Overall, the Tombo P-13E is a reliable and well-crafted pitch pipe that delivers on its promise of accurate tuning. While it may not replace electronic tuners for some, its simplicity and portability make it a valuable addition to any musician's toolkit. However, I found the sound output to be on the quieter side, which might be challenging in noisy environments.

Works as intended, checked on an electronic tuner and the pitches are accurate. Easy to use and comes with a nice carrying case

This pitch pipe is a bit tougher to read; however, it appears that it is more durable and remains in tone better than my Master Key, which I've had for over 25 yrs. Works as advertised, came the next day via Prime and I am please to have a pipe that blows and E and E flat in the correct pitch. Priced fairly!

After purchasing several of the Kratt F-F pitch pipes, the C and C# pitches went flat at least 1/2 step. Someone suggested that I try the Tombo pitch pipe which is E to E. I checked the pitches and found that they were within 10-15 cents of the actual pitch. Also the tones produced were louder than what could be produced on the Kratt. This was a great improvement as it makes it easier to hear across the risers for our chorus. The two drawback are that the notes are listed as sharps instead of flats. I.E. A# instead of Bb. When you hold the pitch pipe with the note markings toward you, the letters are upside down for the pitch you wish to blow. Pros: The tone quality and accuracy are very good. Cons: note labels upside down, pitches shown in naturals and sharps instead of naturals and flats. Suggested improvements: Have the notes engraved on the pitch pipe. Labels eventually wear.

Five star yes, but I bought this to help know where to start when tuning a six-string guitar. This is not for a guitar. This is a Tombo chromatic pitch pipe made in Japan it is set to the key of E. Denoted as P-13E The difference Between a chromatic pitch pipe in the key of A versus other keys such as the key of E. Is that the starting point shifts to a different point on the chromatic scale, so if you compare the two pitch pipes described above, they will have some of the same notes as each other, but the starting place on the chromatic scale will mean the 2 pitch pipes won't share all of the same notes. Do you need more than one chromatic pitch pipe, yes most likely. You need a pitch pipe that serves your need. They all have 13 pitches, and the frequencies repeat so there are many types of them, so therefore you need a pitch pipe that will pitch the notes that you desire. And that the starting point on the dial would be your preference. Chromatic refers to an instrument such as a piano that can have up to 88 notes. Take a look at this. ABCDEFG and back to A, but it repeats now in a higher octave. Again back to that A note, BCDEFG and back to A, the higher octave above the last. So therefore The whole picture looks like this. ABCDEFG-A-BCDEFG-A-BCDEFG. And this third position ends the chromatic scale. Another way to see it is. Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do. And like the above sequence this repeats three times as well, going into the next higher octave each time. Plus we need to consider that there are 8 notes of which 7 are in each set. Just 7 notes not 8, but you still need the 8th note to play music. On a 6 string guitar it's 5, and the 6th string starts the next octave. EADGB-E Back to the pitch pipe. They've improved the dial, now it's gold and the lettering last. It's very accurate, I measured it against 2 instruments and it's dead on. Here are the frequencies, and it seems you can only get them after you buy it. So you're buying in the dark. But for the chromatic pitch pipe in the key of E the frequencies are keyed to the middle of the chromatic scale, which looks like this in hertz. 329.6 Hertz 349.2 Hertz 369.9 Hertz 392.0 Hertz 415.3 Hertz 440.0 Hertz. The standard pitch. 466.1 Hertz 493.8 Hertz 523.2 Hertz 554.3 Hertz 587.3 Hertz 622.2 Hertz 659.2 Hertz If this was a chromatic pitch pipe set to the key of A, then you would be starting off with 440.0 Hertz. The standard pitch. Both pitch pipes mentioned above are good to have, but it comes down to your preference. Hope that helps.

I sing barbershop and bought this to replace my sliding note pipe, which had poor tone and the screw was constantly loosening. This pipe is true to pitch, is streamline to fit in a pocket better, and is well made. I wasn't sure about getting it because it's E scale, and F (men) or C (women) scale are recommended for Barbershop, but it has been perfectly fine for both the women's group and mixed chorus I sing with. I definitely recommend this pitch pipe.
