Better deal than you can find once you land in Japan
It works really well for $20, and 10 GB is super generous; that should last all month for Google Maps, email/texts/Snapchat and any menus or destinations you need to research on the go. It is decently fast most of the time, and you'll have coverage in most tourist areas. I even used it in Hokkaido and on the lower parts of Mt. Fuji! The only downside is I occasionally had periods of "No Service" in areas of coverage that would resolve after restarting the phone or cycling on/off airplane mode. All the people who say it did not work likely had the following issues that can be avoided by reading about your phone and this plan: 1) Your phone is not unlocked 2) Your phone does not support the 4G LTE bands that are listed in the specifications on this Amazon listing 3) You did not correctly enter the access point name (APN settings) that are included on the install paper with the SIM An alternative if you can't/don't want to read any tech specs is to just shop around for an eSim, again, IF your phone supports eSim!

It will work for a few days and then cut out on you while you need it the most
About what the title says, worked amazing for 8 days then completely stopped working. I had only used about 3gb of the 15gb stated, then 8 days in the sim card stopped working. Restarted device, cleaned sim slot, reinstalled multiple times, just stopped working. Much better off buying a SIM Card once you arrive, worked much better than this one. That fact it works for a couple days then cuts out is so much worse than it never working at all.

3G-30days-$20 IT WORKS on MY ANDROID PHONE
Just came back to the USA from a 21 days vacation in Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe. Upon landing in Japan, I swap out the SIM card in my Android phone with this Japanese SIM. I followed a simple instruction on the packaging. Made a couple of simple changes to mobile network settings. It is working! I lost the packaging with the instructions so I do not recall what changes I made. Upon returning to the USA, i swapped back my original SIM card. The phone is back to its old self! I did not need to change any settings. I think the setting change with the Japan SIM is only available with that Japan SIM installed. Loosing the packaging also lost the SIM serial number or account number, SO ..... I cannot attempt to find out how much data I used during the trip. The most data use is Google maps. I try to use previously downloaded offline map whenever I can. I also use the hotels free WiFi when ever I can. While out and about Osaka, i avoid anything that burns up data usage. Real time voice translation from English to Japanese is use only when absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I use the previously downloaded Japanese file for Google Translate for text. I did not use much of free WiFi at 7-11 or Family Mart (convenient store). Some public trains has free WiFi. Most of my voice phone calls are using WhatsApp when I have free WiFi at the hotel. I talk to family and friends in the morning and evenings. Other time one of us is sleeping. I also use WhatsApp for texting when I am out and about. I did made a few calls with WhatsApp while on the SIM without the free WiFi (burning data). All works fine. I avoided attaching photos to my text until I get back to the hotel free WiFi. Web search is minimal. I do not know how much data it will cost me. Common sense also say you should not be watch YouTube or a movie when using this Japan SIM. Am I at the last kbyte of data use available on that Japan SIM? Don't know. My back up plan is to buy another SIM card if this one is used up too fast. Japan has SIM cards sold all over the place. It is common to have 2 layer security verification when you log into your bank account, for example. They will text you a code that you will enter to complete the log in. The problem is once you swap out your SIM, your old phone number is gone. It becomes a problem if you need to transfer fund from another bank into the ATM card account. It is also a problem if you need to any other forms of log in like doctor office, etc. I don't know if using this SIM I can activate my original phone number. Did not research. Update: Found my original package and notice it say "3GB@4G/LTE speed, then UNLIMITED@200kbps". WOW! That means i should have no fear of being left with a dead phone while out and about in Japan. I would still have service, although slow. That is very assuring.

Worked well in old phone as hotspot in 4g
Ordered this for my 2 week trip to Japan in June 2024. I visited Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto Odawara, Tokyo and it worked in all cities and even on the Shinkansen bullet between when the internet was slow on the train. I used an older unlocked android phone and it was plug and play (only works when in Japan but no activation needed). Only 4g but rate must be good since it was way better than the free 256kps at 5G I was getting from my own TMobile plan. Good enough for my 5yo to watch YouTube kids on and definitely good enough for Google translate camera (essential). I only used 5gb over 2 weeks but I made sure not to waste gb when in the hotels. Free wifi is available at several places but often requires registration. Also price beat wife's $12/day international plan on att. Worked a charm!

Good Value SIM – Just Remember to Manage Your Data
I used this SIM card in Japan and it worked fine with both Android and iPhone. In some rural areas, the signal wasn’t very strong, but I’m not sure if that was because of this card or if other carriers have the same issue. At first, my husband used it but didn’t consume much data. Later, about a month later, my daughter used the same card on a different device, and it still worked without any problems, which was very convenient. One downside is that there’s no way to check the remaining data balance, so you have to manage your usage yourself. We tried to use Wi-Fi whenever possible. Overall, it met our needs and we’re satisfied with it.

Worked well in Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka
Just returned from a 10 day trip and the sim card worked well. It joined m-air and the speed was decent. There are some dead spots but overall the coverage was good. I was able to watch part of a football game on a short train ride (the free wifi on the train is very slow). I had to upgrade the iOS on my iPhone 13 from 16.x to 18.x in order to make the hotspot to work.

Didn't work. Domoco and Samsung do not recognize Japan cell towers
Waste of time and money. Tried in Japan at several locations. Spent 16 hours the first day to get it to work and nada. Took it to a sim retailer there and it did not work for them. If you need service, get the pocket wifi from the airport and skip this purchase if you plan on using this in Japan.

Every time I travel to Japan, I use Nippon SIM. It's always reliable and super easy to set up! On my most recent trip, I tried the eSIM version for the first time, and I was so impressed. All I had to do was scan a QR code, follow the simple instructions, and it was ready to go in minutes. The connection was fast and stable throughout my trip, even when I visited different cities. It worked perfectly for maps, social media, and video calls. No need to rent pocket Wi-Fi or worry about roaming. I highly recommend it for a smooth and stress-free Japan trip!

For google maps, tiktok, insta ect it worked fine. It wasn’t the fastest speeds on earth but for what you pay and what you gets it’s great a lot cheaper than what I say in Japan ! It did display no bars on my phone tho but it still worked so I ain’t complaining. Heads up it’s LTE no 4g hence why it’s a little slower

This is the second time I have used this eSIM. Had no issues installing it. Installed before arriving in Japan and it connected to the network as soon as we arrived. Moved around the country a lot and had no connection issues.
