I specifically bought this to bake French and sourdough bread. I'd been looking at the cast iron bread cloches, but they are way too expensive. I then came across this and it looked perfect for what I needed, just the right size, and at a great price. I read the reviews and was concerned about the melting handle people mentioned, but surprise, mine came with a metal one! The makers apparently listened to their customers. My first bread in it has turned out perfectly, so I'm very happy. Great size for a loaf and well made.Someone mentioned that the knob was plastic but mine is not, it is cast iron and held up well in a 450 degree oven.It did have a smell when heating it in the oven at first.
