I live in an older condo, so its not like I can do an upgrade to the electrical system in my unit. I have to return it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Extremely helpful for disabled *by T***N on June 27, 2016* Been awhile since this was purchased, waited for installation. We are planning on renovating our bathroom, but I wanted this hooked up before then. My wife is disabled and suffers from severe pain while showering and drying. Hoped this would help with the drying. Unfortunately we have a regular type tub right now and this will not fit inside. It needs to be in a walk-in shower or a straight sided bath. So our electrician had to install it outside the tub, about 6 inches away angled more toward the wall. So the air getting inside the tub loses some velocity and heat. Still can receive the benefits of the dryer, just not as well. Installation was not as easy as hoped. A kill switch had to be installed and the electrician put a metal angle piece on the wall to hold the heating unit, versus the plastic plate. He also placed a metal insert in the base so it could be secured to the floor, versus the plastic base. I'm sure it will work fine in the new shower.Update: Design flaw, easy fix. Our new bathroom is being built as I type, but I really want to give an update. There is one very big problem with this dryer. Picture it: Winter, warm house, going to work, chilly car, turn on heater, freeze. Just like a car heater, this dryer needs to warm up. It starts by blasting you with cold air, unpleasant. Right now it is not such a big problem since the dryer is outside the tub. We just turn on the dryer (which is outside the shower curtain) while we are rinsing off. It eventually warms up, open the curtain and dry comfortably. There is an easy fix for this (we'll see if the seller reads these); a round, tubular, plexi-glas shield. With an opening for the vents, just rotate the shield to cover the vents, when warmed, rotate to dry. If the seller does read this, I'm willing to accept a free one. If not, I will probably purchase a large enough white PVC pipe and cut a slot in it. Can't believe any other owners haven't mentioned this. It is a real frigid awakening after a warm shower. Another thought; possibly not a good one: Add a little motor that will rotate the blower about 15 degrees. Instead of having to move back and forth, make the dryer do it. Less moving around is better for my wife.REPLY TO BOCA HOME MEDICAL SOLUTIONS:Turning on the dryer as you get into the shower may work in a large shower. The one being constructed now is about 6 foot long, the air being blown, even on low, would be uncomfortable. The idea I have with PVC pipe is pretty simple. One PVC pipe, large enough to enclose the tube, with a 4 inch slit cut out from top to bottom (leaving about ¼ inch on each end for stability and felt on the bottom so it doesn’t scratch). Simply turn the PVC pipe so the air holes are covered. Turn on the dryer. The cool air will hit the PVC pipe and not you. When you are ready to dry, just turn the PVC pipe so the vents are clear. Voila, warm air to dry. A clear acrylic tube can be used in place of PVC for aesthetics, but is much more expensive. Our contractor is going to do the PVC screen for us.Hope this is a clear explanation. Believe me, you do not want me to do an “artist’s rendering”. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Let it warm up first *by B***S on October 29, 2020* I am a stage 4 cancer patient and have trouble with showers. The first problem I had was I could not enter or exit tub safely so had to renovate shower area to a walk in area. Because I have a shower chilling problem decided to investigate the Tornado body dryer. Although the cost makes you clear your throat before you click "Ok Order", I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Of course everything I have done for this shower, including a shower panel body sprayer, have enhanced my shower experience but the Tornado has filled its shoes extremely well and has added a layer of comfort that gives me the ability to have an unaided shower and stay warm from start to finish.Just a short note on the good folks at Tornado. They were extremely helpful with information and also helped a struggling Vet a nifty discount which really came in handy.So after only a couple of weeks the process I have adopted is to turn the unity on for a couple of minutes before I enter allowing the shower area to heat up making entry more comfortable. I turn the unit off while I shower with the warm water taking over the heating job. After shower I find it helpful to pad dry off a bit because even warm air can feel cold if you are wet. But with a slightly damp body the dryer quickly turns that into a totally dry and even warm body.
