Use steam iron on high…
So I don’t do reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I have this strip of carpet that I need from the dog door through my bedroom. This was a scrap piece of carpet purchase from Home Depot with all the ends rough. It was thicker than shown in the seller video but took a chance on it anyways. I started off with ordering a small roll and it worked perfect on the ends, but now I needed to do the sides because my iRobot Roomba was doing a number on the edges as you can see in the video. It was easy to apply with an iron. I ironed the front side all the way down first and then folded it over and ironed the the back side. I still need to finish one end, but as you can see, it is sticking quite nicely.

Not Completely Self-Adhering, But Strong Support
This binding is well-made and priced for the role it can play in securing the outer edges of a rug—or a split in the middle of it. It’s slightly misnamed, because “self-adhering” would suggest it’s a peel-and-stick proposition. This product requires heat and ideally some stitching to keep it solidly in place. A woven-cotton Scandinavian rug was already nicely edged, but had developed a split of 4” long, with minor fraying in a well-traveled spot. I simply cut a length of this that extended 1” beyond each end of the split, ironing it with a pressing cloth on the underside of the rug. I let it dry/cool for an hour, then hand-stitched the loose inner edges/fray of the split to provide it more strength. Otherwise, I didn’t have faith the adhesive activated by the iron would adhere to the split indefinitely. Pro tip: match your thread to the top-side colors of the rug for better camouflage. Now when we walk near this spot, I hardly notice it. This is a solid, well-woven binding worth keeping on hand. It could prove handy, again with some stitching, to repair woven cotton tote bags or other things that need reinforcing.

Great iron on rug binding
I bought this to bind the back of my hook rug. So easy to apply. Stuck very well. I would buy again if I ever had a need for something like this.

GOOD FOR RAW EDGE OF RUG
Used to bind the edge of a small rug with a heat gun. It did the job, adhesion was good, but not the easiest thing to do.

"Hotmelt Binding Edge" is a stretch
The binding tape looked like it had been on a shelf for 10 years or more (and someone was trying to unload it). The adhesive is very thin - I tried to get it to stick to some wood as a test and it barely stuck. I thought it would be like carpet seam tape which works well and has plenty of adhesive. It may work for some use but I certainly wouldn't put it on my carpet pieces to make the edge for a rug.

Not long lasting
Did not stay attached. Proffesional binding would work much better.

saved our Rug
“The border of my very old living-room rug had gotten dirty, but after trying this product I found on Amazon, it looks so much better. I haven’t finished everything yet, but so far I’m really happy with the result.”

It's thinner than expected and not a nice color (no choice in color) but it worked super on carpet edges! A lot better than I expected it to when I saw it!
