Use the right power supply
When I first started using this I was pretty upset: it would work for a couple hours, then drop off of the Ethernet until I unplugged and replugged it. Then I realized the USB power adaptor I'd plugged it into was only 15 watts, enough to mostly power this dongle and the device but not quite. The first sign of failure was dropping off of the Ethernet and not recovering. Switching in a 30 watt USB-C power adaptor made a huge difference, everything has been working smoothly since.

Must have if you have a Chromecast
If you have a newer Chromecast and your Internet speed is over 100mbs, you need this. I had an older Chromecast and upgraded to a newer one, but kept the older adapter. I kept getting a message on screen stating I was connected by Ethernet. It would appear every few minutes and be on screen for about 10 seconds. Very annoying. My older adapter was rated to 100mbs, but my Internet speed was over 300mbs. So I ordered this to see if it was the problem, and it was! No more messages on screen! Great product and quick delivery as well.

Never worked for me. Defective.
Plug and play, everything lights up, Chromecast gets power but Ethernet signal never gets through. Bought a different brand one and it worked zero problems. Other reviewers have gotten duds from this brand also. Beware.

Perfectly fine* Ethernet adapter for Chromecast with Google TV
I say perfectly fine with an * mainly because I had to exchange the adapter because the first one sent out was DOA. Other than that, this Ethernet adapter works great! I've got pretty spotty WiFi with the Chromecast that I've added this adapter to. I was limited to 480p or lower quality resolutions. By hardwiring it, I can now get steady streams in 4K60. I really like the metal housing for this adapter, makes it feel sturdy and capable of transferring heat to prevent overheating. Setup with the Chromecast is quite easy: literally plug and play! No need to change any settings in the Chromecast menu. It should work right out of the packaging.
