The price is right, truly portable
At the moment I got this DAC it had a 15% coupon so I got it for under $40 + tax. About the sound: I would say it is on the warm side but nothing I would object. It is better than all my $10-15 Android dongles from Samsung and Google put together. Better sound than the TimeEar TEU-99 but not as good as my HiBy FC4 (that I find a little too big for my small headphone case). Very accurate sound, not the greatest sound stage, mids a little forward but well implemented, decent base. This is my Go-To DAC to carry around in my headphone case in my pocket. It is small, does not require a separate cable, mic input, feels solid, low battery usage, and the sound is better than any cheap dongle under $20. Connected to my Truehear HEXA IEM headphones, very good pairing. Highly recommended.

Decent but there are better options
Works but it's fairly mediocre, there are better solutions out there.

This device is all around amazing
The Hidizs SD2 DAC Dongle AMP offers an exceptional auditory experience by enabling playback of LPCM lossless audio and high-resolution audio, which significantly enhances sound quality compared to the standard digital compression formats like AAC used by Apple. Apple’s AAC format typically operates at a bit rate of 256 kbps, which, while efficient, compresses audio data and leads to a loss of finer sound details. In contrast, LPCM lossless audio can deliver “lossless” (LPCM/16-24Bit/44.1-48 kHz, CD quality sounds) preserving the integrity of the original recording without compression. High-resolution audio further elevates this experience, often providing bit rates of (24Bit/192 khz, live theater quality sound). This substantial increase in bit rate and audio fidelity allows listeners to hear intricate details and nuances previously masked under the limitations of AAC compression. Consequently, the process of deleting and re-downloading mini albums in lossless or high-resolution formats from Apple Music is a necessary endeavor to achieve the best possible audio quality, ensuring every subtlety and dynamic range of the music is accurately reproduced.

Works well
Allows you to plug in earphones on phones without a 3.5 mm input. Just plug the USB C into the phone and your earphones into the adapter. Only 4 stars because of the price. They cost more than the earphones. This works much better than a Bluetooth adapter, nothing to charge.

Sounds great
This DAC, is built to last and you can feel it, it's powerful, doesn't drain the battery of your phone, doesn't overheat the phone either. I have several headphones and I own several DACs. The sound coming from this one is clear, crisp and true. It fits with my phone case on but it's a tight fit with a thicker case. I waited to get them on sale and I'm not disappointed

Not as Good Sound as iPhone by Itself!
No instruction unless you read Chinese! The cable is propriety and has to be used, cannot used different cable., does not fit on the iPhone in a case. You lose about 10%to 15% volume. iPhone sounded better, with a better bass response and stronger, crisper HI's. Just not worth the 45 bucks and long wait to receive.
