Great new addition
After recently digging out my Lego Dimensions collection, and getting back into the game, I tracked down some new additions. I'd wanted this set for a long while, and after finding it at a 'reasonable' price, I ordered it. The minifigs look great, and the arcade level and world are nice additions. However, the level world is very short - completed in an hour or 2! I am yet to complete the world, but so far so good 😊

I just received this today (Thanks, Amazon Prime!) and I spent a few hours playing it. If you're a fan of the old Midway games, you'll find plenty of nostalgia in this level pack. For example, back in the 80s I spent a fair amount of cash on Gauntlet. Well, lo and behold, there's a Gauntlet game in this level pack. Just as frustrating, holding true to the original design of sucking as much cash out of you as possible, only here...it can't, inasmuch as there's no quarter slot in my game console. Take that, Warner Brothers! And moreover, it's a much nicer experience playing these games on the console as opposed to the stupid Midway iPad app. The hub world is also interesting, at least to me, and has some definite exploration/time waster potential. Arcade Kid (or Gamer Kid, I guess he's known as) gives you some serious abilities...stealth, speed, invulnerability, super strength, and a laser. I kind of think of him as Neo from The Matrix. I'm working on upgrading the Spy Hunter car, but seriously...it's second in my heart only to the Back To The Future DeLorean for sheer cool/nostalgia reasons. Apparently it can be upgraded as a sub or a plane. In addition, as you're wandering around the core game, Gamer Kid is needed to access certain hidden spots. So if you want to get 100% in Dimensions, you need this level pack. Frankly, this level pack is worth the add on its own merits and independent of the other Lego Dimensions worlds. It's a lot of fun.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews on different sites about this pack in particular (Midway Arcade), and I think the main reason for that is the need to pass certain arcade games in order to progress through the level. For the most part these arcade games are easy to pass (even for my 7 year old); I think people forget they're playing a retro-themed arcade level and quickly give up. In any case, below are just a few reasons why this pack is great, and deserving of more credit than it's given. My brief critique is also provided. -Unlike many other characters out there, this character is a useful addition to your team. He has a few abilities that you can scroll through and use one at a time (you drink the pop associated with that ability) such as super speed, invincibility, invisibility, etc. -The mini arcade games are awesome and the requirement for each one is minimal. Gauntlet 1 and 2 are included! Enough said! -Adults who played games in the 80's and 90's will probably appreciate this game the most, but my 7 year old loves it as well. -Even if you're not crazy about the mini arcade game requirements in the level, the open world is a different story; there's no restrictions and it's a blast. I'd say it's better than many of the other dimensions in the game. Critique -The car included isn't any more or less useful than others, but very few vehicles in this game have a truly unique ability. -The level could have been longer and had an actual boss fight or something better to wrap up the level.
